You know what? This clone business is really getting annoying.

~.~ People and their logic... it doesn't matter what online game you play, there's always something that's going to clone another, even if its very "little". So what if it feels like WoW, Doesn't mean it plays like it, This is Final fantasy where they tell enrich stories. The quest system for all we know will have this FF feel, and not standard MMOs. Yoshi-P seems to know what he's doing, and knows what the "General Public" wants, not us per say, but the the world sees as a Good MMO.
Can't please everyone.
let's all reboot our sarcasm detectors shall we
7UP!
I just wonder though...whats the POINT in having overworld monsters at all if its not even close to worth killing them? They should at least be SOMEWHAT worth killing. As Yoshi-P mentioned during the special talk session, there will be a tremendous amount of quests to partake in A Realm Reborn. You’ll be able to reach level 50 without completing all of the quests, but besides quests there will be other content as well, so it will be possible to level up by clearing other content too. The idea of having to level up by hunting monsters, even for your second class and beyond, will basically disappear.
Also, to touch on the new content just a bit, we will be implementing the new crystal tower and a labyrinth-like content that even players who have already reached the cap can challenge.
Unless they ALL had something worth farming from them...but usually most of them don't.
The quests will probably require the monsters to be killed via famous copy and paste quest structure. That was a bit negative of a sentence but when you hear "We have included a tremendous number more of quests - all I read was "We have added a tremendous number of the same quest to different npcs" ". Maybe I'm wrong - that would be awesome. But it did make me worried to hear that lol
Thank you very much for your post!As Yoshi-P mentioned during the special talk session, there will be a tremendous amount of quests to partake in A Realm Reborn. And I'm sorry you were being hit in the new ARR trailerBut I'm sure you were just being easy on them
As for the quest-based leveling system, I think it's going to be a lot more like WoW where you don't really find people farming mobs unless they're farming a certain dropped item. It's more towards quest-grinding and levequests, but Yoshi-p mentioned that there is going to be a lot of variety in the content to level up, so I'm not really worried tbh. He's been doing a pretty awesome job with the game, I have no reason to doubt his judgement yet!
She said "the idea of having to level up by hunting monsters" meaning it won't be mandatory or the only method, that's what I am hoping it means anyway, a good bit of grind can be fun every now and then
True that's what she said, but yoshi-p said countless times that grinding mobs is not going to work anymore.

From what I understand from this, yes you can grind mobs all you want but it's not meant for players to effectively level that way.Originally Posted by Yoshi-p

I can't help but be nervous for this game. I just think they are attempting the impossible. There are so many things that need to change at the core that aren't being changed that I think will ultimately hold this title back from success (e.g., armoury system). Also, $14.99 a month is not going to cut it anymore. I see $9.99 working, maybe, but there better be constant updates. Finally, for a game that is supposedly going to alpha/beta soon, don't you think we should have A LOT more info about quests, storyline, progression, end-game, crafting, etc? I mean we have seen a basic gameplay video but I am worried that we haven't seen much else...
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst (well, not the worst, just not great).
