    Limit Break and Skillchains

    We are all excited about the new Limit Break System that was announced at Gamescom, it's spectacular and extremely powerfull. But! There are some points that I need an explanation about.

    Now each party member can fight "alone", doing his weaponskill/combos etc. This without a doubt deprives the fight of an important tactical aspect, that could make fights even more fun. Time ago, when Battle Regimen was luckily removed from the game, was said something about a system in which people could link they WS to get new fantastic effects. (Skillchains from Final Fantasy XI)

    I just want to know, at this point of Final Fantasy XIV's life, if Limit Break it's what was thought months ago OR it's the icing on the cake... And it would be our final party move aside a Skillchain System that would involve different party members.

    (Limit Break looks like something you can use only once during a fight, and needs time to get activated, Skillchains would be a faster way to make big damage/buffs on enemies)

    EXAMPLE:

    I still don't know much how TP will work in A Realm Reborn, and how countdown on WS will be managed, and stuffs like these.

    There could be special "Recasted Time WS" (If I'm not wrong WS won't have a recast time in ARR, just a TP cost) with which party members can build Skillchains. (filling Limit Break bar)

    IT's a combined system that starts typically with one catalyst mage, chains the TP bar when all are full of the other party members and finished by a second mage class. The other versions are still in the works. Only two I knwo of are the BLm meteor and WHm devine devestation. More will be shown of others later I supose.

    What do you refer to? Skillchain System? I didn't understand if Limit Break is the only way to link members move (maybe just one time per fight) or it would be sided by a shared Combo System (?) .

    @OP: I think there is a gauge the party have to build up together.


    In any case, I hope the dev team considers Cosmic Elucidation.

    (take note all that I say is my understanding from what little data is avaiable)

    From what I gather, the Limit Break system is the replacement of Battle Regimens.
    Fact is, the Limit Breaks are a party-wide ability, as in, the Limit Gauge comes from the entire party combined and depletes the entire party's bar when used.
    Also, to charge the Limit Gauge requires each party member to contribute to the battle, and apparently if you do Fine Play as Yoshida put it, that is, perform actions with precision, you gain bigger values.
    Third, it appears each class has their own unique Limit Break, Black Mage's being Meteor.

    That is a sum of all the information I saw avaiable. So this is still in fact a team effort, here's to hoping that 'focus on limit charging and unleashing' and 'play defensively/offensively according to the battle's special mechanics' are both viable, and different, tactical choices.

    They could introduce 1-2 Weaponskills per Job that link with other 1-2 Weaponskills of another one, to make "Skillchains" and grant "Fine Play"! (Variation of actual Combo System)
