Then I'd have to ask why was that content held back from paying customers? I'd rather have all the variations of the swimsuit in the game instead of having 2 sets that are unobtainable unless you want to spend extra cash.

I'm not fully supporting the idea... I just hate when someone bashes a concept because they don't look at all aspects of it... Never look at a thing from just 1 angle its a 3 dimensional world >.>/ look into the depth that surrounds us!~ @_@/
"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"

Random thought...Why not put those vanity outfits in the synthesis recipes?
I can get behind paying for things that increase SE's workload. Race, name, gender, server changes, things like that. Maybe even some vanity items that wouldn't make sense as a crafted item. The useless pets that just follow you around and make noise once in a while come to mind.
Not that I mind the developers making money where they can, but there are some lines that just ought not be crossed. On that note, even vanity outfits wouldn't bug me so much as to make me quit. Pay to win items would though.

The real problem why cash shop in P2P subscription MMO isn't bode too well is because the idea of spending more money in your monthly expenses is deemed bad idea. Sure, there are DLCs on many game, but you forgot that this is a game where you need to pay 10U$ every month. It will be a huge turn off for new player to know that they must pay more just to enjoy the game.
That is why, I prefer on "implicit way of forced subscription". /airquotes
Just like how F2P game sucked our money into deep abyss by selling low-probability Gachas, but we will promote on monthly subscription instead.
In case you don't bother to dig the thread....Rather than installing the cash shop button right in the UI, I had idea of more... subtle approaches.
The game may go Free to Play to encourage new player (admit it, F2P IS successful these days), but to fully enjoy the game, you need to take monthly subscription. Here the few things that I had in mind:
1. People who play for free will not get Resting bonus upon sleeping in their Inn Room.
2. A new shop called "Boutique" is installed in each cities in Eorzea. These shop will offer new & un-tradeable fashion items each week that is available to buy with crysta for free-player. But for people who subscribe, they can buy it with gil instead.
3. Remodelling feature is available to use for people who subscribe. What is remodelling feature, you ask? It is basically changing the appearance of your high lv equipment to any low lv equipment that you like. So you can have an AF armor with the appearance of Weathered Jacket if you wish....
That is several things that i had in mind. Might be adding more if I have finally attain my Warrior and Paladin job later on.
Any rant is welcome -w-/

No. No cash shop! Not now, not ever! The moment they introduce cash shop is the moment I lose all faith in the game and leave. Cash shop is for money-hungry companies who don't genuinely give a crap about their players.

I don't mind cash shop for itens as long as they are aesthetics only.

I'd only want a Cash Shop if I could buy a RL plushie of my char in whm af. We can make this happen
EDIT: Van Darnus plushie!!!![]()

ACTUALLY, if they did have something similar to World of Warcraft when you could pay them to make you a statue model of your in-game character that would be kinda awesome. I wouldn't mind paying for that.

I've been wanting this since the game started. The clothing is done so well and the characters are proportioned so properly that any of our characters could easily translate into a nice 1/7 or 1/8 resin figure.

Yeah, and then you can choose the pose / emotion you want your character portrayed in. lol
