Will there be a World Transfer in 2.0?

This seems a little rediculous,

they are going to be having like a 1-2- maybe even 3 month down time before 2.0, they cant sort this out in that time??

just have a server transfer exactly like last time but with the incoming new set of servers and their respective data center locations as options.

would that be a problem?

What NEEDs to happen in this case is when current players start ARR only the established servers are online tagged with their region eg. Gungnir (NA) Masamune (JP) Ragnerok (EU) etc and allow us to choose the server to play on.

Then when ARR is officially released bring the new servers online with no transfer for a month or two and the new players can choose between an established or a new server, then you will have what you want.

I will say however I am still no fan of regional servers, stabilizing global servers will keep the game unique, but w/e looks like I am in the minority wanting to meet people from around the world, but lets not go into that here.

I guess there is a way around it. dosent look like there is anything stopping you from starting a new chr in the new world on whatever server you wish. might not be a bad opportunity to re-learn how to play. i know i have friends who will be starting the game in ARR for the first time, i probably will be starting a new chr anyway then later i can transfer my high level over as a cash mule to buy my lowbie a house and shyte!

Well we still don't know if current players will be shifted to regional as well and just the new player servers are off limits to us when they launch. That would be completely ok by me if they do it this way. Hopefully, Rukkirii will get clarification for us.

They are doing this so the newcomers get a chance to enjoy the game as it is actually a new game.
Veterans will be stuck at old servers with our crappy economy, while new players will get to start their own economy on the new servers.
I actually like that idea. It makes sense.

I don't think we'll be able to transfer for atleast 1-2 months after the release of ARR.

I don't mind waiting before given the chance to move to a regional server, but I don't want to be charged to do it after the fact. All accounts created prior to ARR should have the option of doing a free, one-time world transfer for all characters made before ARR launches.

ya then do this make 2 worlds for each area JP,EU,NA and put New Players on the tag and make it so only new char allow to enter then allow the rest of us to switch to NA,EU,JP servers we like not that hard they just don't feel like doing it.

2nd. One free transfer should be good, although that could cause SE a lot of trouble ontop of their already expansive list of things to do.

This concern isn't about the new player servers at all.

This is about 1.0 players who have been clamoring for regional servers. So much so that SE up and did it.

But it appears there may now be a catch. The very players who were asking for this may not even get to use it if they are stuck on servers located in Japan for months after the game re-releases. This is really the heart of what some people's concern might be.

Now this may or may not be the case. We don't exactly know because it isn't clear in the statements that have been released.

All we definitely know, and have known for some time, is that we won't be able to transfer old characters to new player servers for several months. I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of us are 100% ok with that and understand why that is necessary.

However, if old players have to wait even longer than people just coming into the game to move to a regional server after waiting for a long time to begin with, many of us are going to be extremely unhappy about this. Especially when they can designate a server or two for us oldies to migrate to so that we can also benefit from closer servers at the same time as everyone else.

Hopefully, this is exactly what they do.
