Before we finalize details for current players wishing to transfer, we'll need to consider how we'd want to handle returning players. We'll be looking at the options with regard to the Beta Test conditions.

Some of you have been asking about the bullet point we mentioned during the FINAL FANTASY 25th Anniversary Event Special Talk Session about “improving the amount of freedom of world transfers” -- this meant that we will be setting up a world transfer service similar to FFXI.
This isn't really fair to current players. I don't want to be stuck on a JP server when the game relaunchs like the one I am on now. I would give up all my gil or whatever to play on a NA server as long as I keep my character levels. There will probably be very few new NA players willing to join the current JP servers.

If I get stuck on a JP server and can't transfer off right away to one of the new NA ones I likely won't be playing for long.

How about if returning current players want to move to one of the new NA servers you put a gil cap on the amount of gil they can take over say 500k or something, so they won't effect the new economy much.

It's not fair to current players? Screwing over new players is even less fair lol. Everyone currently playing migrates to new servers, guess who suffers most? You can't say "well they don't matter" or "they'll catch up"..no, if current trends will tell you anything, it's resonable most people currently playing are not.

They're locked out for current players FOR NOW simply for the sake of new players it seems like. No matter what you say, moving old players to a brand new server will affect it period. 200k or 100k..doesn't matter, it will have an effect on the new economy if there's say 5k people moving over, that's already a ton of gil flowing around and prices will reflect that. There's a reason they're adjusting the value of the gil and prices on NPCs you know.

What are you in such a hurry for, you've been on a JP-located server for years(?) now, I'm sure you can wait a few weeks/months. You're right though in that the reason it won't be immediate is to ensure economic stability and to give new players a little time to develop before throwing a bunch of vets in there.

There will probably far more current players who want to move to the NA servers then brand new players.

It pisses me off that I won't get to play on the server type I want to play on. I never liked the mixed servers to start with and especially don't want to play on one that's designated JP.

If we are playing on a server labeled JP though there will be an influx of JP players who maybe don't want to play on a new server but want to play on an established one. So the JPs will be getting a lot of new people to play with while the English speaking population won't rise at all.

Also it seems like we will be likely charged $25 extra to server transfer like they do on FFXI. Making it a another con for not being able to move at relaunch.

The issue is if you're stuck in a JP server, there won't be new non-JP players joining your server. All new players will most likely be JP and the population will inflate. Not to mention I have friends who want to start playing after ARR begins. I would like to be able to play with them and also not have them to only face JP players the entire time (as opposed to a variety of players).

Wouldn't be a problem with optimized universal servers..but alas.

Not allowing us to move around at launch likely has little to nothing to do with how much money we have or affecting economies of those worlds. Likely everything to do with a stable launch and allowing new players a chance to actually pick a server they want. Everyone moving their characters around while adding thousands of new characters puts a lot of strain on the servers, not to mention the fact that they likely want to maintain a stable launch environment.

Solution: Chill out and wait for the transfer. It's not going to kill you to stay on a server that may or may not be in your region for a little bit. Also this changes doesn't just affect us, the JP players that get stuck on a server that doesn't have a JP data center are in the same boat.

This isn't really about going to a server with new people.

They could easily create a couple NA or EU migration servers for us old people to move to.

Here is a possible solution. Split up the current servers into all 3 regions and allow old players to move to any of the old servers, make a few servers a new players only for the first few months or whatever.

For example, not going to list all servers but something like this

    Ridill - JP
    Masamune - JP
    Durandal - JP
New world A - JP (New players only for 3 months)
New world B - JP (New players only for 3 months)

    Aegis - NA
    Gungier - NA
    Sargatanas - NA
New world C - NA (New players only for 3 months)
New world D - NA (New players only for 3 months)

    Ragnarok - EU
    Excalibur - EU
New world E - EU (New players only for 3 months)
New world F - EU (New players only for 3 months)
