How exactly is it sharing when you want one side to clearly dominate?
"I don't mind if jumping is in, it just needs to be completely restricted because I disagree with it."
What about the other persons feelings on the subject? I want to have crazy, over the top stuff...such as giant explosions, awesome dancing, hilarious outfits, cool vehicles, etc. I can't have these things, which is totally unfair! Other games did it...why can't this one?
TOTALLY
UNFAIR
Fortunately, you don't make FF games, SE makes FF games. They've been making them for 25 years and I think they have a pretty good grasp on what feels in or out of place "in the aesthetics of Final Fantasy games". So stop complaining about jump.
Seriously, you people deserve to have two or three lalefells following you everywhere and jumping circles around you just for complaining so much about something that does not affect you at all. Play your game and stop trying to tell everyone else how to play.

This is the same game, it's got the same name with an added sub name for effect and marketing. It's got the same cities, races, classes, jobs, NPCs, skills, everything. They redesigned it, on a new engine, they didn't make a new game from scratch. Story will continue after the 7th Umbral Era. You should be able to differentiate between marketing and reality. The minor differences and extra content could very well be implemented in a new 1.24 patch or whatever in the current game, and you would not call it a new game. Compare this version to the one that got out, it will probably have just as many different things as this version will have to 2.0.
Also, if they do want to redesign everything that has got to do with the 1.0 game in regards to aesthetic just to fit a jump feature, then fine, you've got a valid point, except some people simply disagree they need to do that at all. Unless all the crazy-over-jump people out there REALLY prefer a different visually looking game than XIV (which is absurd given the game greatest strength right now is its visuals). This is just, in my view, an insane thing to complain about. And here you are complaining we are complaining about jump.
So you didn't read the part where I said "leave the fantasy where it's needed?" Apparently some people think you need fantasy in every aspect of a game, but SE most certainly does not, as it has done a very naturalistic game, which feels and plays like the real world would if it had magic, monsters, and whatever else there isn't on Earth. Characters breathe and turn realistically, move, fight, the lighting and texturing is very naturalistic. The gameplay that actually matters included fantastic feats, sure, but jump's not a game play mechanic, won't be as far as I can tell, no matter how many fences you plan on skipping for an amazing 2 seconds advantage.I wonder if your memory is just bad or you're remembering what you want to remember. This is the same Final Fantasy series where you play underwater soccer. The same series where you slash at somebody 20 times (with a couple jumps tossed in there) when you reach your limit. The same series where you SUPLEX A TRAIN. Yeah.
The whole "realism" argument is moot as well. Final Fantasy is as distant from reality as can possibly be. I mean, fantasy (it's even in the game's title) pretty much means "the opposite of reality" or "not realistic." Yeah, the graphics are good, probably the best for any other MMO out there, but graphics do not equal realistic. I mean, the sky is literally falling in this game, for pete's sake. It's hard to argue when you cannot understand the simple concept of realism within a fantasy setting. If you want, I can call it naturalism, though I figured it'd be the same thing here. Breaking reality standards is a tool, and it shouldn't be exploited if you want it to actually matter, to make a difference. Final Fantasy gains a great deal of its Fantasy feel precisely because it looks real, and therefore believable to us. A retarded looking stylized cartoon won't awe you as much when it does crazy tricks simply because it isn't believable to you in the first place. But a naturally looking character will impress you when it suddenly steps out of the perceived reality you put him in and do something extraordinary. Jumping, as it has been shown from the video, will detract from that feeling. When everyone is locked to the same reality, the game gains a certain mood. Saying not everyone will be jumping around is irrelevant, because as soon as it happens, the reality is broken. It'd be like breaking the laws of physics every once in a while, completely destroying the vision we have of the world, and some people saying it isn't such a big deal since it doesn't happen ALL the time. That's how I feel about it. I realize it is coming, though, no matter how we feel about it, and I just hope I can get used to this new reality.LOL @Final Fantasy is "REALISTIC" LMAO wtf are you guys rly smoking on something? Lets see flying to the moon on what looks like a whale or jumping 100 ft in the air to kill something or how about 1 person fighting like 100 ppl or how about getting shot in the face and just shrug it off? Need I continue?

When you claim that FFs are naturalistic, (whatever that means to you) I want to believe that what you're trying to say is that there's a degree of verisimilitude in how the humanlike characters behave in the game.. Specifically, you seem to refer to the fact that they seem to adhere to certain unbreakable laws of nature like we do in real life. Are you sure there really is such a verisimilitude in FF games?Originally Posted by Darshu
Is there any verisimilitude in the fact that characters can run for days without ever getting exhausted? Is it a law of nature that characters can walk through other characters and monsters? Do characters behave naturally when they do not *ever* need to eat nor drink -nor sleep, in some games? Do characters adhere to the laws of nature when they climb ridiculously steep walls in a completely unnatural fashion? Is it natural for characters to be completely unable to jump around easily surmountable obstacles? Is there any semblance of truth in the fact that characters can loot just about anything from people's houses but still retain a sense of morality because they buy stuff from stores? How come characters can trade armor and armor changes shape and form when given to someone from a different gender or race --is that natural? How can characters be completely unaffected by different weather changes such as extreme cold and go around in their summer outfits?
Just because characters look "real" in some (not even all) FF games, it doesn't mean that the game was made with the objective of retaining any figment of realism. The truth is the characters do not abide by any natural laws nor by any laws of the universe.

Pretty sure the novelty will wear off in a couple of days anyway.
