That is purely an opinion thing.
For me, the EO series got better the farther he got from the game. Still grindy, given that is what dungeon crawlers are about, but far, far better done and less 'idiot' grind and more 'fun' grind, but then again: Opinions.
I LOVE EO!!!!!!
I hope he can fix the horrible balance of the game in ARR.
AO games are pretty much perfectly balanced and it's one of the few games where money never loses it's worth and it makes gear buying meaningful and you really feel the upgrades during battle.
Not to mention that even single fights require strategy. One more thing that certainly wouldn't hurt XIV at this point especially the early levels.

Love the EO series. Job selection in that game is very good too. And I love the art style, Samurai's look awesome in that game. Very good old school dungeon crawler type experience. And very hard.
I welcome you Kazuya Niinou.

LolTanaka. Anybody who thinks hes some kind of expert on Games or MMOs sure didn't play FFXI when it first launched in NA.

Actually Tanaka may be decent at OFFLINE games which is where he should have stayed, but as an MMO developer he was sub-par and laughable at best.
He never paid attention to the community, never tried to find what the players wanted in the game, he very rarely even attempted to balance jobs period. Also it took him how many years to put moogles in Selbina in FFXI? That alone is a third-month release kinda thing not a 5th-6th year update when almost no one leveled in that area anymore.
What people forget, it seems is; Tanaka wasn't the ONLY person that made earlier SE games, he was a member of a team and the member of a team is only as good as their team. Tanaka may not have been the best, but he wasn't the worst.
I do think Tanaka should have stayed with offline games since he refused to accept what the community wanted.
I do however hope this new assistant director knows what the MMO community wants rather then turn into another Tanaka. That is the last thing we need.
