There are situations where classes is better than jobs. Example in the Darnus (hard) fight a THM is better than a BLM, because the THM can use Sentinel and AoE Sanguite Rite.Idk why they don't just get rid of the class system and stick with the traditional approach to the jobs. It would be less restrictive, cleaner, and just more logical. several skills isn't enough to distinguish between two different jobs in the future, and giving up your job skills make it almost never worth playing the class instead.
I figured there would be some situations that I wasn't aware of that people would point out, that's why I threw in the "as far as I know." I acknowledge the fact that there are highly situational uses for the classes, but I just don't think they merit having them around.
How are they going to keep jobs and classes unique and functional once they start branching two or three jobs off each class? I see this as being a very difficult task. Another part of why I hate classes is also simply because they aren't traditional, and they don't really have their own identity. But that's just my personal opinion I guess.
You don't understand the utility of classes because up until now we've just had 7 of 'em with a very basic specialization(jobs) of each. You can't mix and match to create a versatile skill set if we only have 15 per each class to choose from, especially if many of them are locked to their respective classes. Once we get more classes and thus options, along with the new content Yoshi P is designing for class play in mind, you'll start to see their purpose.
In other words, don't blow your lid just yet just because you haven't seen something yet.
i thought it was Arcanist/Warlock > Unlocks > Summoner.
Maybe im wrong?
If that is the way, then...thats the reason i would play Arcanist/Warlock.
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...

I don't understand the purpose of keeping the class system either. It just seems like bulk to the game to forever waste dev resources on. It's also rather confusing for new players, as I've experienced with many friends returning to the game. It would have been better to combine all the useful solo abilities into one freelancer/onion knight job for new players and solo play then have the jobs stem from that.
Oh well.
Eh, I'll play it long enough to unlock SMN and get to use all the same skills the Class comes with. Hurray for diversity.
