Ok, I HAVE to inject my two cents because I was silent when people were first starting to revile the class system at the initial launch of 14. I was silent because I wasn't aware of the raging debate that was being held on the forums. I was just playing the game and figuring out what could be done with it. I cannot be silent any longer because the game has already been drastically changed due to the vocal people on the forums. And I believe that the vocal people on the forums do not necessarily represent the majority of the players.

I MISS the classes as they were originally intended. They were originally designed to allow you a measure of freedom you don't normally see in games. You could level any class and combine skills from multiple classes. Yes, the classes were basic as designed, but by leveling different classes and combining skills in your own way, you could create a truly original character. But, the vocal individuals on the forum apparently didn't understand this or didn't appreciate the genius that was and the freedom they had been given. Instead of learning about the different skills and coming up with imaginative ways to combine them, you all wailed and raged to the heavens that someone give you a specific JOB that limits you to playing in the exact same way you've been playing for your entire gaming careers. Instead of embracing an open system of fighting, you wanted a specific path only.

Now, before you go on the attack, let me tell you that I don't care what you say about me. I just want my voice to be heard if SE is still reviewing these forums. I appreciated what the class system was trying to do. I still appreciate it, but to a lesser extent than before because so many abilities were either taken out or made class/job specific. I can understand that this was necessary for the jobs that you people (yes, you people) requested. However, I miss the freedom I had previously. I can also understand that the specialized jobs are great for specific situations, but not all of them.

If you prefer the XI job system, then play XI. If you prefer things a specific way, go find a game that gives you what you want. I wanted to play XIV and devise interesting skill combinations, I had no problem with the game as it was originally presented (with regard to the class system, I admit the UI sucked). Because I enjoyed the game as it was and saw no reason to try to whine about it, the gaming experience as I originally anticipated it has been ripped away forever. And that's why I'm replying to this thread. I'm tired of reading the whining, moaning and recriminations against SE.

SE, I miss the original class system and I see what you were trying to do with it. SE, the more I see of 2.0 the more excited I am. You guys have worked damn hard at this game and I appreciate your hard work and ingenuity. PLEASE, keep in mind that the vocal people on the forums are NOT your entire fan base. I think the lighting in 2.0 is spectacular, and I think someone should thank you for all of your hard work. Thank you!

PS. I really hope you plan to release that 25 year box set thingy to the US as well. I'll gladly give you my money for that!

Sorry to break the bad news but SE doesn't listen to the fans or read the forums. It's all a myth. lol

I won't attack you for having a dif opinion though, If you feel that way I don't mind. It seems like its 50/50 on the jobs vs classes thing.

THANK you. Honestly, We ALL know the jobs, we all love them and treasure our memories of them. (Of course, None of the ones I personally love are even in the game but i deal with it the best I can.) But there was something amazing about the early classes. Granted the skill sets tended to be most useful when flowing from a mage class to a melee class (since melees can cast spells but mages cant really do weaponskills (ok they could, but come on, they're wielding sticks and jewelry not swords and axes)). The point being: you could make the job you wanted. A debuffing monk? np! a healing warrior? fuhgettaboutit! that was the beauty of the class system. The job system is enthusiastically fascist imho.

Thing is, the exact opposite happened because everyone picked the best skills of all the classes and became identical to each other.
