lol.............I never cried about animation lock. I was completely fine with XIV being a slower paced game, where reading enemy patterns was key to not being stuck in an animation and taking a hit. I never had a problem with this
But that's irrelevant. What does animation lock have to do with moving realistically? It's not a 'one or the other' kind of situation. No, what I think the issue is they wanted a safe bet, an MMO that played like MMO's people are familiar with, and therefore nixed their setup instead of trying to improve upon it
