    like i said before it's PRE alpha, yes they have trailers and all that good stuff but you have remember they made a ton of changes in alpha/beta in 1.0. CHANGES WILL BE MADE. matter in fact have you played 2.0? maybe, it must just be uncomfortable to play like that. maybe that cool one-two step makes a difference when fighting mobs, then people will blame animation lock/lag because of it. Sorry I understand all the fuss about fluid movement but if it makes the gameplay more fluid as a whole better than i'm all for it.

    While I'll lament the loss of the realistic character motion, the one thing I want them to absolutely keep is the way our heads move when targeting something. Target another player and you look at them, but your eyes move independently of your head. It gives it this overall feel of actually being your character, of actually looking at that person you're looking at.

    I like that.

    If someone has an issue with the game it should be noted. Look at what happened to XIV initially.

    I don't personally mind the animation though.

    I never cried about animation lock. I was completely fine with XIV being a slower paced game, where reading enemy patterns was key to not being stuck in an animation and taking a hit. I never had a problem with this

    But that's irrelevant. What does animation lock have to do with moving realistically? It's not a 'one or the other' kind of situation. No, what I think the issue is they wanted a safe bet, an MMO that played like MMO's people are familiar with, and therefore nixed their setup instead of trying to improve upon it

    Sadly, yes it is.
    To give the player a feeling of his character having actual weight and moving naturally, after a jump or a swing of the weapon with full might the character has to find his balance again or build up enough strengh to stand up again after landing on the ground. Basically, it locks your character in place.
    If this animation lock is done away with and the characters move freely regardless of them using skills or not this feeling of actual weight is lost as well.

    Personally I never had a problem with animation lock and to me it was way more important for my character to look 'real' (even when doing simple stuff like ACTUALLY TURNING AROUND and not just instantly flip around) but I know I'm one of the very few people who think that way

    awful example. the two aren't even comparable as we haven't even had the opportunity to alpha test, much less beta. furthermore, people WERE very vocal about the numerous problems with the early builds of XIV- they were just ignored by the dev team and assured everything would be ready for launch.
