Ok so, at some point early on in FFXI's career, you had only war, whm, blm, thf, mnk, and red mage. Even by swapping your sub jobs, some of which gave no REAL benefit depending on what main you were, the system was fairly limited. That being said, once SE developed new jobs, 2 here, then 3 more there, then 2 more and so on, the system began to flesh itself out to the one we came to really love and play for years.
Considering how young this new vision for FFXIV is, and how little (up until 2.0) the class system has changed since launch (even when you factor in jobs, the system as a whole is close to the same) we really haven't seen what sort of potential the class system has to offer yet.
At the very least lets see what changes 2.0 brings with the new skills for each class and jobs, and give Yoshi time to actually get some traction and gain some ground with it before bashing it. He has only added the very basics with the job system and essentially hasn't touched classes much at all. Its not even his system. 2.0 will be all him, so I am content to at least let the man showcase his own ideas instead of being forced to piggyback on someone elses abortion. Just hold you horses a little while longer and necro post this thread in 6 months if you still feel this way then.
