This is going to seem more harsh than I intend, oh well. This sounds like a "why is blm not stupid god tier again". There is basically an entire "why blm was badly balanced" for old school XI paragraph.
The why cant I do X shows a clear lack of handle on the combat system. Studnara as you put it has the same damage reduction for stunning mechanic you mentioned liking in xi for example. If you use it to stun it has a much longer recast. This is somehow ignoring the fact that BLM/THM are still really REALLY powerful in this game but have a few instances where melees have you know... a point. Those are certain magic resit and long duration fights. Discounting materia doesn't really factor in a system where crafting is much more... well... a part of the game. Basically its not like XI had a read out for magic attack bonus vs int best of the best just in the game either. Or did I miss the old your magic acc must be X to not resist on Fafnir readout. There are things that people can better quanitfy like how INT and Thundara interact. Blm has enfeebs. You can bind for a quick get away, gravity and stun. Though if you do you wake it up, almost like that is the idea.
I will say that out of all the classes THM is the most powerful I think (statement of the year folks its so revolutionary). If you want to be the "all around blm" you sacrifice a bit of playstyle for that. Then you can heal, raise, buff.
Elemental stuff does need to be a bit better. The dual wheel is weird, but that is just my preference. Ill agree with the other guy that 95% of the time bliz/thunder was the way to go in XI but it was still there and noticeable when done right. (quick aside did anyone 5/5 Quake II?) The combo system for BLM is not as fun as most other jobs. It has more just use this quick abilities though.
The thing is I think you are assuming off of XI combat. If you managed enmity the way you did in XI here, well it doesn't work the exact same does it? Assume that for everything. Soloing is different in XIV. And the class/job vision is different. Instead of Most powerful ranged magic damage with variety of enfeebs and soloing you have Most powerful ranged magic damage with some enfeebs.
