Can we be given the option to continue to pay for our subscription in October?

I realize that I am in probably an extreme minority of players, but with Yoshi-P's announcement, I am currently on track to receive legacy membership but only if I'm allowed to continue to pay for my account into October. However, according to the announcement, the game will be free to play as of September.

Is there anyway for players that are currently playing to make some form of "Crysta donation" to continue our subscriptions during this free period?

I thought you couldn't get legacy after a certain point. They did warn you about this lol..if you wanted legacy why didn't you sign up when they announced it? You had like a full month.

Nobody else seems to have noticed this yet, but your understanding of FTP in September is incorrect. November 1 will be the final save maintenance, with November 11 being when servers go down.

Legacy qualification = have paid for three consecutive months during 1.0 service

So long as you started your Sub by August 1, you should be in the clear. August, September, and October will qualify you for Legacy. If you started after August 1, you may be short by a few days depending on when the billing period ends.

I activated my account at release and paid for a full year of Crysta and while I played for a number of months after release I did not actually pay any Crysta. Then due to RL issues, I had to put down gaming until this summer when I reactivated my account in mid July (not even knowing there was a legacy program).

According to what the legacy program states, is that you need to pay for 90 days prior to the start of Beta which is happening post Nov. 1. But according to what Yoshi-P wrote in his last message, after September 30th the game will be free.

Will we still be given the option to pay during that period to qualify for Legacy status?

Edit: I think you are right, I misread the letter the first time. If I understand this correctly, we will still have to pay up through November, however should they decide to keep the servers up post Nov. 1, we would be able to play for free. Thanks for the clarification, this literally made my day. Never thought I would actually be so happy for the right to pay for a game subscription lol.

I'm currently in the same boat. I started my subscription in August because I saw the Legacy Campaign advertised on the Lodestone front page. The Legacy Campaign page states that you must pay 3 consecutive months prior to the Beta release. In Yoshi-P's letter, he states that the Alpha is on its way, and that the game won't move to Beta until he is absolutely satisfied with the Alpha testing.

I honestly wouldn't have known about any sort of deadline if I hadn't browsed the forums. It seems like members are violent about calling other people out on missing this "deadline." I'd argue that FFXIV is still far from Beta and if there was a deadline or cutoff I'd find it very hard to believe that they would keep the Legacy Campaign promotion on the front page of the website.

I've been pondering this as well. At one point they had on the lodestone that you had to have registered your account prior to the end of may 2012 also to qualify for legacy, which bummed me out bigtime, but now it is back to it's original statement that you only have to have 90 cumulative paid subscription days between Jan 2012 and the start of 2.0 beta testing.

I started in mid June, which is why i was bummed when it was stated about the registering by end of may 2012. I had my 30 day free trial and made my first payment in july, then august, and now mid september would be my 3rd payment for the 90 days. It would appear from reading the latest letter from yoshi p that the beta definitely wont be that early. so.... my question is, will I achieve legacy status after all? or will the having to have registered my game before the end of may still apply?

I don't know...I don't see anything about a deadline on the Legacy Campaign promotion page. I also didn't receive an email about it in my inbox. I think many people are confusing the deadline for the 90 day subscription payment with the Legacy Campaign promotion.
