With the current planned set up you will be able to create enough mules to store your excess items <unless you are a complete packrat like me>.

It wasn't a choice to limit our current inventory, it was a choice to temporarily expand our inventory way back when. In the very same patch the change was made it was listed in the patch notes with a little * note saying that it was only temporary. Of course very few listened at the time and even fewer who have come back since then even know about it. Inventory space is just going back to what it used to be and apparently where Yoshida thinks it should be.
As others have stated, we have time to prepare. If you're really worried about it then condense your inventory however you have to.

Oh, if gear no longer counts, then that would be just fine :-)

I'd like to focus on your second point Guevara, "When will you be releasing the missable items/content list?"
I would like a solid list from SE telling us exactly what items and content from the current version will be unobtainable in 2.0. I don't mean every little pelt and level 1 side quest but the major things such as Darklight gear, Primal weapons, Relic quest items, Raids, Dungeons, NMs etc. If something like that is going to be removed in 2.0 I would like to know now so I know what to focus my time on over the next two months.

I second this! We really need a solid answer from the dev team about what items we will no longer be able to get. A content list was released a while back concerning mostly just attachments.
My biggest wonder is all the "Dated" gear. will that still be around in 2.0/ARR?
because they listened to me!

Also they are not limiting us, they are just bringing us back to normal. Just like how people think taxes are going to be raised when taxes are like the lowest ever.
Nothing will be lost that much we know, anything in excess of what you can carry under the new limit will probably go to a special overflow space (guess). Seems like the most logical thing to do. I know a few games where you don't lose items if your inventory is full, you just can't use them until you have the space- they go into a special overflow area- much like how you can put many more items in the delivery box in XI than it actually has room for.1 - what will happen to our inventory items? And what of our retainer's and bazaars'? As far as I know we'll have less inventory space... right now many are sitting on 500+ items (self, self-bazaar, retainers, retainers' bazaar)... it would be cool to have a special safe into the inn rooms with all our items inside.
