If we're getting a world event, then sure. If not, no.
Gives me more reason to focus on my studies.

Yeah but the thing is, how long would that be fun. In theory its awesome but everyone would probably get tired of one shotting things after like a week. A good example I will give is the grand theft auto games. They always come with cheats that make you borderline invincible, and give you all the weapons which makes it fun to sit there and see how long you can last against the police every once in awhile, but how long does it take until that gets boring and you go back to doing the story and actually making progress in the game? With super stats and drop rates it would just be the same scenario except we won't have the option of going back to actually making any sort of progress. Is it really worth any sort of square enixes resources, no matter how minimal, when they could be working on the launch of 2.0 instead of doing that. The point for those events isn't to keep stuff, but to have some god mode fun out there. People messing with 5X melds and trying to beat Ifrit kill records with that power, for example.
Of course that should't be kept, but would be fun for a while. Better than playing normally with no incentive or bonus when nothing will carry over.

its either play have fun or dont play at all
no one is forcing to to play if they decide to keep the servers.
Assuming Nov 1~11 is a world special world event that closes out the 1.0 server story/setting, then I will only play until that's over. If there's not even that then I'm probably done after Nov 1. I see no reason to keep playing post Nov 11 though.
Did you not read the entirety of the post? I clearly stated my point. I don't believe it is worth square enixes resources no matter how minimal to try and think up things to make us play or give any sort of manpower to keep the servers up at all when they could be working on 2.0.
They don't have a big red "Make everything awesome button" they can press on a whim, these would be things they would have to code into the game.

Nope, if the data isn't saved I think I'd rather play D3 and other stuff.
Run it like EVE Test Server? They take a mirror and that's your launch point, it is wiped at the end of the mirror. In this case when 2.0 goes live.
My question might be, how long do you think it will be before someone is screaming "I hate 2.0 give me a legacy server". You could nip it in the bud and implement one now.
- I support the "God mode" suggestion as well. if for no other reason than glorious youtube vids.

I don't see the point in keeping the servers up after the proposed November 11th date. I know he used the reasoning of the social aspect of the game, but there are plenty of other methods of communication outside of the game that people can use in the meantime.
I'm personally going to use the time between the 1st and the 11th to re-record all my cutscenes from 1.0 in HD so I can compare them to the new ones in ARR. Also, I thought there was going to be another lettered patch between now and the end of the game? There wasn't any mention of it in the producer letter so I'm guessing not...
Anyway, once I get done the things I want to accomplish before the servers go down, I can finally take the time to play some other games that have been on the backburner. Sleeping Dogs, maybe some Path of Exile and Diablo 3.
no, I will don't play after the save date, and SE will have to start 2.0 ARR soon after that because we have no reason to wait without playing. Or maybe our caracters will be in the beta without loosing data of the beta, that can be great
I might keep playing should the servers stay up. I've only just re-joined the game recently and am having a lot of fun. However, in the next two months the chances of me seeing and doing everything there is to see and do is very slim (I only play evenings/weekends). I'd probably keep playing just to experience different aspects of the game that perhaps I may not have yet experienced by that point in time.
