There are multiple ways to achieve the same goal. One needs to try out different gear sets and see how each one works for them. If a certain set works for you while it seems overwhelmingly disregarded by others, then go ahead and use it. There's no real point in others calling that set dumb if it works for prevailing in content. Try out what others suggest and test it. That should help you recognize what set best works for how you tank.
