Seemed like a missing option in config. I remember this being in FFXI and was very useful when I had to switch to new a TV. I don't see it being much of a problem for PC users but PS3 users that's another story.

1) In 2.o
2) Dont TVs have brightness config?
I would greatly appreciate this. I've got my computer monitor as bright as it can go, but sometimes I just want to push it a little farther.
Most video card config utility also have brightness setting
sounds like your monitor's showing some age... you should never have to put a monitor at maximum brightness. It sounds like what you're really looking for is not a shift towards lighter colors, but an increase in luminosity coming from your monitor. CRT monitors have no options for that (hence messing with the brightness and contrast), but you can adjust the backlight strength on LCD/LED monitors without changing the rendered colors/contrasts.
Try shining a flashlight at your screen.
