    SP loss end of story.

SP loss end of story, GIL is worthless, Repairing is just as easy as throwing away gil. Just make us lose SP upon death I even welcome back d-leveling then if you got into a fight you were not ready for you had no option but to run(that's what flee was for). This would also welcome more people to party. Scared of dying you need a tank, healer, ect.. you want to be prepared rather than ''winging it''. I don't want gear damage for dying, that will happen regardless if I die or not. But losing my SP? that is something to fear. thoughts?

I rip the axe from the head Covered in blood and brains Leave the body lying dead Ready to strike again
My sword cuts through clothes and skin Like a hot knife cuts through snow I smile as the bastard screams When I twist my sword
Sword in my hand Axe on my side Valhalla awaits me Soon I will die Bear skin on my back Wolf jaw on my head Valhalla awaits me When I'm dead

Well hey if you have to have a penalty to make you not be a terrible player this game probably isn't for you.

That's the point. I mostly see people doing leves too high for them dying running back to the mob and finishing it off WITH gear damage in effect. Gear damage does not scare people.

Problem yoshi-p does not want it seem a lot of players don't like the idea of SP lost. MMO players each year that pass want a game that easy more and more.

I agree we need SP lost.

    Edit:
@Arcell it's not about that what he said make a lot of sense. When playing FFXI i did not want to die and alway try and do my best. In FFXIV i can care less i just die and run back 500000 times.

It's not just about what some hardcore player want. Xp/Sp loss is just a stupid method for a death penalty. It hurts more than than just some kicked in the nuts adrenaline rush you desire. Most people will become scared and paranoid like in XI.

While I made several detailed posts on this matter in another thread I wish not to do the same again. Good luck with your discussion.

P.S. Yoshi-P isn't going to add anything that will result in casuals not playing. Which is why he won't add Xp/Sp loss...

Losing the battle is enough. Let's look to the future where there may well be instanced, timed content with hard boss battles and entry time restrictions / hard to obtain or expensive pop items. Attempting that when not ready will lose the pop or waste the run.

That should be penalty enough, losing a rank in addition is going to be an extra slap in the face.

OK, right now there is no real incentive not to die, but there is also no hardcore content yet either. But it will come.

The thing is it's not enough. Since when is dying an okay thing? I thought the goal of most games is not to die. But if all they can think of is gear damage and repairs that is never going to change.

Really was exp a penalty in XI?

I never thought about exp loss in XI unless we were talking 40k+ in the space of an event... only after that amount was I in danger of a delevel. And the first thing I would do is go and get that buffer back.

You do what you do to get the job done. I have happily shed 20k exp zombie-ing a NM with only RR1 after a wipe while waiting for members to job change / arrive etc without a seconds hesitation. The only penalty for me is when a God / Jailer / ZNM depops, or a timeout in BCNM / Limbus / Dyna / etc as nobody was in a position where they can safely RR.

Exp loss barely even registers in comparison in those situations.

If it did not bother you in XI it won't bother you here. so you don't care either way?
