error 90002 randomly between our 2 PCs

Hello, My partner and I who live together and are playing on the same network are having random disconnection issues when playing together (i do crafting on the side mostly on my steamdeck and it has yet to happen solo), error 90002, it has yet to happen at the same time but it is happening to the both of us and usually one of us has a worse day than the other when it happens.
Followed the advice in a previous post but the port forwarding cause port forwarding only works on one client so do we need 2 separate connections to play? That would make the whole game a non starter for us and we'd have to unsub. I don't want to do that.

    No VPN
    Windows 11
    Wired connection
1 character (so far have not tested on alts I don't really play anymore)
randomly while questing or in dungeons (which I feel the worst about "please wait y'all dont kick him gotta wait out the 'disconnect other client' and queue"
Hard to tell, sometimes we can go hours, sometimes it happens within a few minutes.
We are in California with Comcast internet

I'm having the same problem, I also use Xfinity (Comcast) but I'm on the east coast. I've read of this happening to a lot of folks. There is a thread pinned at the top of the tech support forum about lag and packet loss. Fill out a report, hopefully they'll do something. Mine has been happening since late Tuesday. FFXIV is the only game I'm having an issue with staying connected. Some folks said they had fairly good luck using a VPN but I tried it and it made it worse. My sub comes around at the end of the month and if the issue isn't fixed I'm going to have to unsub. I hate that, I love this game, but I'm not paying for something I can't play.

    Good luck!

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We appreciate you for reaching out to us about the concern you're experiencing, and we understand how important smooth gaming is. I appreciate you for trying other troubleshooting steps you are able to find regarding this particular concern. The 90002 error is an error that appears usually when there is a connection issue or interference with the game's servers.

Just to make sure, can you please check as well the troubleshooting steps I have provided below and see if you have done them as well so that we can determine a better approach to help you out on this issue?

    • Restart Network Equipment: Power cycle your router and modem (unplug for 5-10 minutes) to clear out outdated data.

    • Check Firewall/Antivirus: Ensure that FFXIV is whitelisted in your security software.

    • Use a VPN: A VPN can help bypass unstable ISP routing nodes, which often solves 90002 series errors.

    • Switch Data Centers: Temporarily changing data centers from the main menu and then switching back can sometimes bypass the issue.

If the same error appears after you have tried these steps, kindly perform a trace route and contact us back so we can take a look.

We look forward to your response.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

I know you're responding to the OP, but I did all those steps. My traceroute drops packet in Sacramento, sometimes in my ISP handoff to NTT in Ashburn, VA. I contacted NTT with the traceroute that drops out in Sacramento, they basically said it's my ISP or you guys, I contacted my ISP and couldn't find any issues. Of course, either one of them could be lying. Still can't hold a connection as of today. I filled out the form at the top with all the trace info and my location.
