    Idea Proposal: Exclusion Slots

    Hello Development Team and Community,

I would like to propose a feature for use with the duty roulette system. I call it "Exclusion Slots".

Starting with the player upon completing the quest, "The Ultimate Weapon", the player will start gaining Exclusion Slots for use with their Duty Roulettes. The player is able to select any duty that they have unlocked (and completed) to set as an 'Excluded Duty', which means that any time the player attempts to queue for a Duty Roulette, the system will never be enlisted in the duty set in the 'Excluded Duty List', barring exceptions I will set forth down below.

-The Main Scenario Quest, Expert Roulette, and Daily Challenge: Frontline ignore the Duty Exclusion List.
-You may not choose more than 1 Duty for the Duty Exclusion List that are shared within the Level Cap Dungeons Roulette.
-A Duty Roulette may not be queued into if the Duty Exclusion List contains more than 30% of a Duty Roulette's contents available to you.
-Queuing with a party in a Duty Roulette ignores the Duty Exclusion List for the Party.

Logic: This is to try to exclude cases and edge-cases wherein a player(s) attempts to force the system into selecting a singular duty to still gain Roulette Rewards, in addition to avoid cases where all duties within a list may be excluded from the available pool.

How a player earns Duty Exclusion Slots:

A player gains 1 Exclusion Slot each by completing the following quests:
    "The Ultimate Weapon"
    "The Instruments of Our Deliverance"
    "Heavensward"
    "Shadows of the First"
    "Stormblood"
    "Feel the Burn"
    "Shadowbringers"
    "Like Master, Like Pupil"
    "Endwalker"
    "Abyssal Dark"
    "Dawntrail"
    "Where We Call Home"

This results in 2 Duty Exclusion Slots each expansion. For a total of 12 Slots available by the time a player catches up to current content. Each slot is set to unlock at the end of every Expansion's Launch Main Scenario (X.0), and one slot within each expansion's X.4 Patch Content, aiming for after that patch's respective unlockable duties among the critical story path.

No slots are gained for completing other quests or content, save for one case.
One additional slot is unlocked for any player that has the ability to Queue themselves into the Mentor Roulette.

These exclusion slots may be managed within the Duty Finder in the Duty Finder Settings. Additionally, a player may Access the Sub-menu on a selected duty to Add or Remove it from the Duty Exclusion List. An excluded duty will have an "exclusion icon" next to it in the duty list if it is on the Duty Exclusion List.

A duty on the duty exclusion list may be queued into directly as the Duty Exclusion List is only referenced with the Roulettes.

With this, I hope to help ease a certain dread that players face with facing duty roulette.

    Thank you for your time,
    -Xemsi Faye

If this became a thing I would immediately blacklist MSQ roulette and Manervile duties.

The que times gonna be longer with this one… I can already see the disaster happening for new players trying to complete msq dungeons.

Well, I would like to believe most likely not.
As planned, the MSQ Roulette ignores the duty exclusion list. The only other roulette that you can get MSQ Duties (Praetorium, Decumana, etc..) is Mentor roulette. Which, is not the majority of players, and even if a mentor player is using all their exclusion slots (total of 13 slots), the exclusion amount of content for a player that has unlocked everything is somewhere in the ballpark of 5-7%...ish of duties within the game available. [I'm using data from the Eorzea Database, using it's "Duty" option and subtracting out Duties that are not available with roulettes. +/- anything I missed.]

Which... is within acceptable parameters, me thinks.

I'd also like to think that the amount of data that would be generated by this could help the Development Team determine which duties players are excluding, and see if and what changes need to be made to help ease pain points in content- maybe even give the dungeons a refresh or adjustments.

No. Sometimes you get the crappy dungeons. Suck it up and deal.

I love the idea. I do think they should move Syrcus to MSQ and that Labyrinth should either be updated (Team C in that run...you might as well go take a nap because your whole team is meaningless and excluded anyway.) or also moved to another category because getting it in Alliance Roulette is a guarantee of frustration and irritation, if you give mech hints you're told "We're all just watching youtube and ignoring it all anyway" or "The mechs don't matter in here calm down." and are shamed into just suffering through wipes and disasters while sprouts make the mistakes that could be avoided if seasoned players would stop griefing and just kindly provide honest guidance. Honestly, I think these two raids should be updated, their Mechanics adjusted to MATTER so something like sprouts all stacking the three stack markers on the final boss in Syrcus will actually wipe the raid instead of teaching sprouts that terrible habit we see in later raids where it actually DOES wipe the raid and cost everyone more time. I'm seeing it more and more in Roulettes, newer players running to stack their stack markers over others thinking it's what they're supposed to do and killing everyone causing time consuming wipes. I would gleefully put Syrcus and Labyrinth in an exclusion list and let the players who think that's fun have at because I don't find it funny or the least bit enjoyable having my time wasted like that and I very much resent seasoned players leading new players to believe mechanics don't matter.

Also. in 8.x they have mentioned "Duty Exclusions" are becoming a thing. It was in an Open Letter that it was mentioned, I could swear I heard it was something they were working on.
