Apparently a little bird is telling me they added an auto sweep function that fetches all of the players connected on a server (including in duties).
And planning to make player daily hunts.

To think all of this was enabled with the introduction of an anti stalking feature (blacklist).

This does not surprise me since the previous 2 tools had an aim to include frontline mapping , and especially comments made by the 'previous' developer.

It's even crazier when you think that all this stemmed from some guy wanting to know who specifically was undercutting on the marketboard.

If people are worried about someone finding out how many mounts or minions they own, or that they were afk in Limsa Lominsa on Tuesday, it is probably best that they cancel their ISP and get rid of their cellular phone since there are far worse things being tracked.

I would not underestimate it. Some online stalkers k*lled other people because they went really crazy and became very obsessive with their later victims. And even if there is no physical danger, online stalkers can become really annoying.

Except with FFXIV its people getting in RP/ERP drama, or they themsleves are incredibly toxic, and then they act like they don't know why something is happening.

If you just blacklist people or ignore them messaging you on alts, they'll get bored. Someone can't find out where you live irl based on your player activity lol

The original Playerscope was created purely because the dev wanted to know the identities of everyone undercutting him on the MB, which is psychotic and easy to stumble into just by using the game's systems as the devs intended.

I never ever heard of that happening. And if it did, the person was already unstable prior.

These were AFAIR not FF14 players. But there are cases, where online stalkers went really crazy.
