I was just thinking. Since it does not matter what happens in the game in those 10 days, maybe the devs will release a small patch that makes all gear 100% drop rate?
It would be fun to have everyone experience the fun running around in all Darklight gear and with all Ifrit weapons.

Possibly even allowing people to get their relics in just a few days, thanks to guaranteed drops and good equips which will help with the fights?

I imagine, being that the 1st is a maintenance day and they'll have the opportunity to make ingame adjustments to things, what we're more likely to see is Dalamud in its most massive state, looming just over our heads and this music playing across all regions and cities 24/7 until the game concludes on the last day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZITw3Ub-K0

With something like non-stop Garlean attacks across all the regions, making even some soldiers trying to sack the cities themselves? No drops on the soliders of course, no achievements for killing them, just slaughter!

After November 1st, nothing people do will matter and the literal end of the (FFXIV) world is coming. I wonder how people will behave.

I have a feeling that those last ten days from November 1st through 11th will be used for some sort of final end-of-the-world event. With the "final character data save" happening on Nov. 1st, those of us who log in after that won't be expecting to make any sort of progress with our characters. That gives the devs the freedom to do things that would otherwise be game-breaking. Want to uproot all of the aetherytes? Fine. Want to put a crater where Hyrstmill used to be? Go for it!

Of course, I could be completely wrong. Those final ten days after our character data is saved might simply serve as time for us to say our final goodbyes before the servers go offline. But I like the armageddon event explanation better.

Question... Yoshi-P mentioned that they would make a poll to keep the current servers up... but with no further save progress etc. Is this for for a few "days" or are they planning to keep them up "forever" depste no future saving?

Well. I'm thinking that would be bad. Most of you would get pissed when all your shiny toys are taken away and you'd lose some of your respect for the game. LOL
