    Physical Ranged Job- Suggestion

    So gonna try explain how this job works

    First off its crossbow with aetherite crystal. on the tip weilder channels there aether into crossbow. and shoot rapid fire like a machine gun. also you have ability to fly/glide kinda not really like mount more like jump higher hair slowly fall down while firing rapidly array of bullets. you also have ability slide under shooting projectiles up in the air then also fall down ability to hit them twice.

    you also shoot large beam.


    this job has ammo gauge. when you use all your ammo up you spend 3.0 seconds reload. before you start damaging again this ranged physical damage heavily on resource managable

    Machine Gun Fire - hold dont fire button but also deplete ammo gauge very slowly

    Aetherite beam - Hold down fire button shoot massive beam this debetes the ammo gauge rapidly

    Energy Blast - Hold down button few seconds then shoot massive blast this takes a chunk of your ammo gauge
    you do have abilities restore the gauge on cooldown but eventually you need to reload. reload mechanic idea of this job is resource managiment

    this crossbow is two-handed crossbow. kinda heavy so this why floating or flying or gliding for movement like all physical range you fire while you move



    when you reload your stuck in place. 2.5-3.0 seconds need select moments you reload. or manage your resource.

    Props to you for coming up with interesting ideas. Although, with the way FFXIV's systems work, I don't believe it will be practical in execution. What you are describing sounds more like Quicktime events where you interact with the battle via rapid-fire or button press sequences and are very cinematic. That, or it could be an idea for a brand-new game all together. But FFXIV relies on either keyboard engagement, mouse clicks (or both) or a controller's Cross-Hotbar. So your idea would need to work for all of those. In addition, I don't believe it would quite work due to people's attentiveness: Not only would you need to remember which skills would mandate the long button presses (and other possible unique button-press styles), but you need to keep an eye on the more difficult boss fights in the game... sometimes, too much is happening on-screen that it's just easier to simply press a button once to execute the action that you need instead of focusing on the style of unique button press. To segue to my next point, your stylized idea for airtime animation is cool (I'll give you that), but it might cause big problems for you and your teammates during intense fights where you must have high-reaction time--if you're floating in the air like a feather and an AOE attack appears beneath your character, you could be screwed.

    I'm not attacking your idea, I'm just both trying to understand it and help you refine its execution, because FFXIV's battle systems work in a very specific way... so your ideas would need to focus around that.

    Also, your Aetheryte Beam and Energy Blast attacks sound identical. When you say "fire button," are you referring to using the same fire button for each attack? FFXIV doesn't have a fire button, so I'm confused if you mean an ability you assign to a hotbar??

    As I said, I'm literally just trying to comprehend it all. You may want to refine & flesh out the idea some more. Think of more abilities. What defensive abilities does the Job have? Any support abilities? Healing abilities? AOE attacks ("Energy Blast" maybe)?
