Tank preference question

Depends on the content and level range. If we are talking pure dungeons only, outside of criterion it would be WAR. If we are talking criterion/deep dungeon it would be PLD.

PLD is generally desired for all content and I believe it might still hold the top spot for most tank played. GNB and DRK while not the most desired tank for dungeon content they do have high player counts for high end content.

So if I want to play a class that's chill and cozy, it's PLD for now? Yeah and I did not like DrK playstyle, but I enjoyed GnB

Aslong as tank does w2w and can use their mitigation, then I have no preference.

That said 90% of the time when tank is hard to heal, the tank is Dark Knight.

That's not the right way to think about it.

Really, the tanks are too homogenized to think like that. Pick whichever. They all perform just about equally well. The only actual difference is in lower-level dungeon content where Dark Knight struggles a bit more and Warrior has it more easy, but even those aren't huge differences.

Oh and DRK is your auto-pick if you don't like a 60s based cycle but instead want a 120s one. The other 3 tanks all base their gameplay on a 60s cycle.

What Carighan said. Tanks are too similar to each other for anything to really matter. I'd even argue that they are currently the most homogenized role, even if I can absolute sympathize with healers and how simple their damage rotations are.

Either way, there is no real preference and even if there is, it depends on content. I know PLD at the moment is the most popular since it is generally considered the comfiest tank in all types of content. WAR gets really comfy during fights it can AoE (and therefore heal like crazy with Bloodwhetting) and has other moments where it struggles slightly, mainly those where Bloodwhetting's slightly lower mit compared to Holy Sheltron and Heart of Corundum does start biting it in the butt. DRK doesn't love pack fights because TBN is just a finite amount of mitigation, but does great in bosses because of TBN. GNB, similarly to PLD, is kind of an all-rounder pick, just one with more weaving happening consistently, so can't go wrong there either.

All of this doesn't matter unless you are week 1 Savage raiding or doing Ultimates though and are subject to change with Evercold, so really, just pick the tank you like the look of the most at the moment
