I undercut by thousands and still have several billion gil. As long as that junk is out of my inventory that's all that matters.

Hi BigCheez, first I want to say that I say this with complete respect without trying to come off as knee-jerk contrarian. But I actually do save my fav mats and check them every day and if they’re a good enough price that’s too good to pass up I will usually snatch them up.

There’s a couple of other regulars on my server that I notice who also do this. It’s prob just an anomalous server thing but who knows. Just that we’re out there watching! And if the price is right, we buy!

I mean you still need to level the alts to lvl 50 so they can buy the FC house, craft all the sub parts, and leveling them will take up to 6-7 months where you will make close to nothing during the entire time period and lose money if you buy the mats and there's just so many of them for 1 sub. Also, if you need to have alot of FC credits to buy tickets and fuel, so you will need to do other content to fund them or buy stacks from others.

Also, I undercut depending on my mood, so if the item is 5m then I will drop it to 4m because it's taking too long to sell and I need my gil now. Then when I see undercutting by 1g from competition means it's a great time to start dragging the prices down since that is just so annoying to waste everyone's time like this and I start halving the prices just for the love of the game.

First of all the idea behind "supply and demand" doesn't work here properly because we have tons of bots and ffxiv is the only strange game where prices do not go up but instead go down. Every other mmogpr you would see big inflation and prices going to thousands of gil just like in real life, but this game offers that exclusive items go down in price ridiculously fast and then its not worth to sell it anymore. So that famous "supply and demand" doesn't apply here properly.

Instead of trying to sell those junk items that are barely worth the effort, consider doing other things. Nobody likes to share their ideas because then everybody starts doing them and it falls to water, but here are a few better things someone can do;

- Create FC and farm subs. Infinite gil, low effort. Literally the reason why everybody has millions.
- Craft magitek repair kits. They sell for high price
- Get levinchrome aethersand and sell it. It sells for a high price.
- Farm maps such as gargantuan or brax or lobo. They all can be soloed. Brax and garga take a bit more time but very doable as a tank.
- Do sanctuary island every week for a chance to get rare jet dyes.
- Do 100 leves for alchemy last one. its level 99 and grants around 1 to 1.5 million gil at the end. Not that hard to even do.
- Don't bother with bozja / eureka, takes too much effort for nothing when you could have farmed aethersand and get 5x more money.

That's what I mostly do, least amount of effort and good stuff.

But likewise, marketboard is "good" just remember that you'll compete with thousands of bots and people who will undercut prices to hell.

This isn't true at all. Anything related to FC submarines has retained its value well despite being ancient due to there still being demand for it. You can make more selling something like cobalt ore than you can selling most Dawntrail mats.

Botting doesn't invalidate supply and demand, it proves it. The reason that botting reduces the price is that it increases supply.

The price of things going down over time is generally caused by them becoming easier to get, therefore supply going up and demand going down.

With just one account you can scale up to 5 fcs on a server and manage it all with one main character that hops between the fcs. Easiest way to make hundreds of millions and it doesn't require any illegal third party tools such as the likes that people use to automate crafting, undercutting or for observation of market trends.
