I’m personally not fussed about everything being lore accurate, it’s a video game. But for the sake of the discussion, let’s be honest, if we’re going to be very strict about being “in lore,” there isn’t a single job in this game that doesn’t use magic. If we’re canonizing everything the jobs do, then all these absolutely crazy visual effects HAVE to be magic. There’s no other explanation.

Unless you want to use dynamis as the reason for these crazy visual effects, in which case they can make a “DP bar” that does the exact same thing. Except they can’t because dynamis doesn’t get introduced until EW, in which case, they can just use MP, because let’s be honest — it’s magic.

There was a time when Mauraders could make use of wind aspected moves. Tornado and such. Used a chunk of that MP bar iirc.
All visually and mechanically replaced now, hello Steel Cyclone. But it's not like we couldn't incorporate it into the lore.
