I personally find it to be a failure to host a contest, for a game that is spanning the regions, where only U.S. and Canadian residents are eligible. If they had separate regions, it'd be a different story. Perhaps it's only me that feels that way, but I am disappointed to see this happen.

It's the very fact that I can play with players from all over the world, which I find to be one of the huge strengths of XI and XIV. Thus, hosting contests where you lock out a large part of the playerbase, is something I find to be shortsighted and somewhat stupid.

Then again, I understand that there will be a large part of the community that does not share my view of it, and find my opinion to be shortsighted and stupid. I can live with that.

There's always one person who complain about this each time the reason it laws not every regions follow the same laws as USA. So when it come to contests and so on they there laws that SE need to follow. Or it's simple fact that the dev from that region is not at work or there a holiday many reason why there not a contest in other area law is one of them.

Also..anyone who uses the voice over from the scratchy-throat sounding guy that does big cinema movie trailers. Wins. Just because, that'd be funny too.

In a way, I feel to bad compaining about this, cause I believe contests like this is a good thing and that they're only doing it to be nice (I also think it's an awesome way to answer back to people who complained about the voice-acting). However, they're excluding a large part of the community by making region-based contests and it doesn't sit well with me. Especially since we all know it's definitely possible to have contests that include everyone.

From what I understood, everyone's allowed to participate, though. They just won't get any prize if they win if they're outside North America.

My initial impression wasn't that they were responding directly to the complaints, but rather this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...your-VA-talent!

They saw a bunch of people having fun and thought "This is awesome, let's go for it!" not "Well if you think you can do better...".
