    Casting and moving

    I never put anything up in our forum but i will always play mage. I came back from the game finding out I cant cast and run anymore which is meh.

    To Yoshi's crew who says casting and running will be op in pvp. Please please look at Guildwars 2.

    Everybody talks about how good their pvp system. AND YET THEIR MAGES CAN CAST WHILE RUNNING.

    Please consider giving us the ability to run and cast again. Please.

    I think it could be really over powered for many reasons pvp being a small one. it also plays a role in mechanics for boss fights and dungeon encounters. While that may be the case I also don't see the harm in the lower tier spells being mobile (cure shouldn't be) but the lower tier offensive spells could slide.

    I don't see a difference from kiting and casting spells, to gravity or bind nuking, or sleep and nuking strategies...

    As for bosses, current enfeeble system, they just laugh at pathetic attempt to having status ailments stick on them.

    I would gladly give up the useless enfeebles for the ability to cast and run without an animation lock.

    Casting and moving in FFXIV for PvP would result in one thing, BLM wins every time. Guild Wars 2 lets them cast and run because in their system there are a lot more moves tailored to interception. I can catch up to a mage, stun them or at least stop them from moving. If you want that added to FFXIV every class would need full skill overhaul.

    I don't see the difference in pvp.

    I either run from you and cast, or a sleep/nuke/bind nuke.

    It's the same wither way, I don't understand why they had to get rid of moving while casting. Cause if there's 3 ways that do the same thing essentially, why was one removed?

    Enfeebles suck, but I doubt there will be any player racked status evasion gear. And enfeebles are always more effective on player than enemies. And no one ever notices that look at hamlet, specifically aleport, why do you never become resistant to poison when Koblolds spam it, yet if you do sleepga more than 2 times they become immune to it.

    It's worth keeping in mind that PvP situations won't always be 1v1. If a BLM can just run away from you and cast whlie you have to chase after them, other people can rush up and gank you. This basically creates no risk for a BLM.

    Changing this did make things a little more inconvenient for PvE, but it wasn't exactly like you could run around and cast in FFXI or almost any other MMO for that matter. Leaving it the way it was basically creates a sense of not having to make a choice in a dangerous situation.

    "Do I want to stand here and potentially die to this effect while casting this spell, or lighten the burden on my WHM and move out of the way and not get this cast off?"

    PvP issue aside (I have zero interest in PvP) not being able to cast while moving, IMO, puts a lot more pressure on White Mages during difficult boss fights.

    Basically, as a White Mage my job is to 1) heal the tank, and 2) stay alive. That means keeping myself open to healing the tank at all times, and avoid putting myself in danger or out of range because it jeopardizes #1.

    When they took away our ability to cast while moving, I basically had to stop healing DDs much of the time even if I see their HP going into the red.

    It's kind of funny, really. When the change happened I remember a lot of DD mains having a "take that!" attitude saying mages were over-powered. And now there's a nice long thread in the Conjurer/White Mage forum about not healing DDs. Two sides to every coin. ^^;

    As somebody who hates pvp (yes i suck at pvp ; I really dont see the point of taking out an ability to please what? 1%? Your example is valid Orophin about the blm running away and pretty much traps but it's really easy to run away from blm cast yes second thunder is fast but everything else takes time to be casted. You talk about stun like that thunder movie is 100%. Orophin you also said that because 11 didnt have that ability 14 shouldnt to? 11 came out like what 10yrs ago? Your comparing something so old to a game of the new generation? why?

    Mikita alot of ppl are just meh. To many players in the world ego is just too much.

    I understand that players want their main job to be special but this is final fantasy game you'll be able to play each job why do you want certain jobs gimp. Just so the job you spend your whole gil on would feel overpowered. Which by the way if you celebrated too much will be gimped.

    Gimping the casting class from moving because OF PVP WHICH ISNT EVEN HERE YET. Just didnt make sense. This game is suppost to be faster than ff11. But all I see is ff11-2 mechanics. Speed up the melee then slow down the mage class? We all know theres gonna be more melee class than mage class so why force everybody to be melee centric when mage class needed to be special in it's own right. We're the only class that can cure the melee! We're the only class who's willing to take all your *nyanya(censored)* and we'll do it with a smile! Why be mean to us ; ;.



    I know it's weird that I'm bringing up a subject that should have been discussed along time ago and the discussion is now dead. However 2.0 is right around the corner. I dont want to play a 2.0 that's pretty much ff11-2. I want a ff14-2 the game when we all started felt awesome when we first played it in beta. We knew it was gonna be special after they fixed certain mechanics. I'm not saying everything yoshi has done is bad. It's pretty awesome it's just they've slowed down mages alot :/ why? Yoshi said he's favorite job is a smn once. So why you gimping us so badly just because of PVP.

    I know i'm just rambling but. When my friend watched me play ff14 around last november. The only thing in the game he really loved was the fact that mages can cast and move. He was pretty much prepared to buy the game just because of that(he's played ff11 and was rdm main, he was also crazy about pvp). It made the game more actiony (that's the best word i can find). Right now mages are just playing the same game we use to play 10yrs ago. While all the melee are having fun with their lil combos. Making the action feel so actiony(hehe) to them. So you guys will probably stare at the blm cast meteor while all you guys are in la la land messing around with your combos. Thinking wow blm job is so borring.

    I always thought Thaumaturge as boring, and black mage too. When they added movement cancel it made it worse.
