More immersive sounds while flying

Wouldn't it be nice to have the wind blowing in your hair while flying on a broomstick? Or any other mount?

Easy: Just cross the border to another map while flying and you have more immersive sounds!

It also works when you are swimming on the surface of any water and then hop on your mount, then you also will have more immersive sounds!

And as a passenger in a multi-seater mount you will always enjoy the more immersive sounds.


I have reported this as a bug before, but it got dismissed as "feedback" or whatever. This is so easy to reproduce that I must wonder if they were even looking into it at all.

I would love to have the better sounds active at all times, but right now it's just some bug to play around with. When you touch ground and start again into the air the blowing wind sound is turned off again.

I find it grating, personally. I always make sure to touch down when I cross zones mid-flight, because I think it's just a little too loud -- and I'd prefer not to have to turn down the other sound effects to compensate for it. If this bug were fixed (I agree that it's a bug), I'd like it to be tweaked a bit... but I'm sure that's even less likely than them ever actually addressing this to begin with lol.

I just want more immersive sounds as when I log in FFXI and the rain beats down on La theine it is beautiful as I can hear it. The wind the lightning everything my footsteps squelching on the wet grass. I do not know why but in FFXIV these sounds are not there or hardly. I think my settings are correct but everything is blanked out by the music or the stupid fate music (need a toggle for this) but yes overall we need better sounds to make the world feel alive.

I just want the Seikret mount to stop sounding like its cracking every joint in its wings every time it flaps, what's even up with that

If it's even possible in the current engine, I'd prefer they introduce skyriding because it was so fun to have in both WoW & GW2 so I don't see why XIV cannot have it. Also speeds up flying but makes it more immersive and engaging.

As long as they make it optional, I don't mind (or care). Going the WoW route is an absolute no-go for me, were you either have to suffer through flap-your-wings-and-break-your-neck high speed flying, or play through the entire MSQ until you're allowed to use normal flying.
