I'm sorry to hurt your immersions, but this would do little to restrict someone who wants to play both PLD and DRK. They would just start one character as a PLD and then a second as a DRK, just like any other MMO. Would that make you feel better if they had to swap characters to access that second job? Unless are we talking about an accountwide lock, where if you unlock PLD you can't play DRK at all?

All this suggestion would do is make people that want to play all classes have two characters and split their choices. On this char I'll go PLD and WHM. On this char I'll go DRK and BLM.

Your immersions unfortunately aren't going to win out against people that want to play as a variety of classes.

changing jobs is not immersion breaking. people in real life are capable of performing more than one job. I know plenty of people that work one job in the morning then *poof!* CHAAAAANGE.... JOB! and work another in the afternoon. There's nothing inrealistic about that at all....

I like the idea of changing jobs but I do think instanced content should lock you into the job you entered with until you leave the dungeon/instance.

However, unless the content was designed intelligently, people would roll with whatever was used to clear the dungeon first, which in essence destroys the unique idea of the concept. Conversely if these dungeons were designed intelligently without firm jobs in mind much like WoW's early dungeons. People could roll in with whatever they have and take a go at it which in my opinion would be fantastic.
