I think jobs should have something unique to offer the party.

for example i dont know why lancer lost their trick attack ability (cant remember name lol) there would be a drg in every party if it still had it. and if every class had something like that we can get away from the 5x <class> thing we have going on now.

SE should think of a way it not make it an advantage to have 2 WHM in a party.

maybe its something which can be fixed with further ballancing by the devs

im not against having multiple class's on one character

I agree with you on this point -- online games are about interacting with other people. That is why I am so attached to FFXIV when I had never been interested in games before.

But social interaction really comes down to: Being sociable

If someone wants to make friends they need to try talking with people and go out of their way to be friendly, helpful, and encouraging. Not everyone will respond, but some people will and that can be the start of something good.

For new and returning players it's like walking into a party where most people know each other already. Almost no one will walk up to a newcomer and immediately welcome them into the flock. It is therefore up to the newcomer to make the effort to get to know people. That's just how it is with people.

As much as I play to spend time with the friends I've made, I wouldn't want to depend on anyone else to be able to get where I want to go.

I don't think limiting players to just one class will improve your chance of social interaction. In fact, it may severely limit it for certain classes that are not as "desirable".

FFXIV is my first and only online game. Last year I briefly peeked at another game but I was really surprised by not being able to change classes. I quickly realized that being locked into 1 class for my "whole life" was not the way I wanted to develop a character.

I am really enjoying leveling up almost every class. There are a few I enjoy playing more than others and so I tend to specialize in those even though I could play other roles. Most of the people I play with are also very flexible and we like to give people a chance to try new things.

Social interaction does happen already in FFXIV.
I feel that the class flexibility we have is really a separate matter, and one of the things that sets this game apart.

I really dispise this everyone gets to be every class at once thing!

In my eyes, this defeats the entire purpose of gaming online.
In most MMOs, one character = one class. People want to try each class. So what do they do? Roll alt characters. Half the point of the system used in XI and XIV is to eliminate the necessity to create alts to play the different classes. People are going to do it anyway, so why not cut out the middle man? This way, you have one identity instead of several and you get the same benefits. What's not to like?

If you want to level a single discipline on a single character, go for it. Nothing's stopping you from doing so.

I'd never play a one character = one class MMO. I just wouldn't. I am so happy with being able to level multiple things on a single character, and I'm also completely happy with being able to change classes on the fly. I think the system is perfectly fine as is.

What I mean by this is: When you are locked into one class, your class-of-choice (be it gladiator, conjurer, etc.) makes you unique, it sets you apart from other players, and makes you a valuable party member.
I think you are misplacing your animosity here. You should point to fact that power lvling was abused instead of the multi class per character. Otherwise:

    - How exacty are you more unique [yourClass] beside the 10 [yourClass] in your linskell ?
    - How exactly are you more valuable in a party if you cant switch to allow a friend in or to have at least the required classes for an event ?
    - What if you dont want to play that class anymore ?
    - What about all your EX items obtained after hard work ?
    - What if you get EX loot that your current class cant use , but your other char could ?
    - What if groups and linkshells dont want/need your class ? Start over everything ???
    - Do you really want to redo all your promotion/access requirement/chocobo/aetherite quests to bring your other char on a bare minimum level with your main ?

The dependency to other players would be too great to the point of hindering you constantly. What if no blacksmiths are around ? What if no MRDs are around ? Get stuck in town ? This is a game. Not a full time job.

There is a difference between wanting XI-2 and wanting good, tested ideas from XI implemented. The all class access is one of those tested and good things.

It's not different than wanting something from WoW, or EVE, or Maple Story, or Pokemon, or Pong. If it's a good system that would work in the game, then why not?
