-> As a player, I won't know who the heck your alternates are. I won't even care who the heck you are. You think I would go track all "x" number of your alternates multiplied by "y" number of players in my linkshell? It seriously sucks bad when I log into the game to ask "Who are you" every day.

    3) Flexibility in groups.
-> Granted there are some balancing issues but anyone can theoretically go as anything in groups...and I don't have to re-log a character to do it.

    4) Cross-class skills
-> I actually liked this aspect of FFXIV. Even if everyone uses the same thing in the end, it is something unique to FF.
I agree with Tymora on this point.

Also, I might add that most people specialize in certain classes anyways. I'm sure you know certain players who main "this class" and sub "that class", which allows them to concentrate their energies and resources towards bettering that particular one. Then again, you have people who are Jacks of all trades. But the underlining here is that people have the freedom to choose what they want.

Freedom and choices, Flaco, the more of those you give to people, the happier they are.

Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?

I'm unique because of how I choose to play. Not because the game limited me to only specific options.

I don't get the whole point of this mess.... lol get sick of rolling alts in another mmorpgs because of their limitations don't bring em in this game plz... really don't see a logical point in it... ~.~

Those 3 paladins might not always be around... Stuff happens... RL... Boredom from the game etc... then what are you going do pay for an alt just to level the class or would it make more sense to already have it on your main char which can basically do everything without the non sense of going through the storyline again lol...

I was worried about this too but aren't anymore after dabbling in some endgame content.

At start most people played anything in AF and content at the time ifrit/moogle/DH were forgiving enough that medicore skill and gear was enough to clear them. As content gets harder and skill and gear start to matter more, most people will start focusing on fewer roles to play.

WHM that only leveled the job up for the crown won't be as reliable as an experienced WHM with melded and endgame gear.

I 100% disagree with the Op on this.

The all class/jobs per 1 character is one of the major positives of XI and XIV over all other mmos out there. There is no need to level alts, no need to do the same quest 10xs over, no need to level the same crafts over and over.

If anything, just take out the option to switch jobs/classes during raids. I hate class switching midraid/fight.

Just imagine, having multiple alts, and doing GC for all of them...

IMO, the game would lose it's charm if we were restricted to one-class-one-character. I've always loved the concept of being able to level every job. And honestly, that doesn't effect my gameplay. If anything, if I were restricted to one job, I would be bored as hell! I wouldn't make a new character for a new job, because that means having to do ALL my quests again, Company quests included.

I've noticed that this doesn't seem to effect party-making either. Sure, there are some people who have every job at 50, but they can only be one job while we're fighting. We still have to contact certain friends/LS mates for a tank, a healer, some ranged, some DDs. There are only a few handfuls of people who have eeeverything at 50, and I'm certainly not one of them. But if they changed it to one-class-one-character, I would probably quit from boredom. (sorry that this is so long)

Keep in mind that the multiple classes at 50 thing is unique due to the lack of progression introduced to the game due to its remake and circumstance. I 100% agree with what your saying however I feel that much of this could be solved in 2.0 in 2 ways. First, by making the xp required to gain levels after level 50(dramatically ) this will require each person to spend a great deal more time leveling and learning one job or class. 2nd, they need to diversify each class by adding multiple jobs for each class. In this way more people could focus on the 1 or 2 classes that have the jobs in them they like to play, and narrow down the field with what any one player can be working on at one time. In the gamescom demo is showed that the xp gap from 50 to 51 was like half a million xp. While I realize that could just be because it's a demo, I personally would love to see the higher levels require great deals of time to progress through. I miss the days of having only one or two main classes.
