    My Ideas for Evolved Summoners

    First and foremost I want to say that I am a serious summoner fan and playing a summoner job has always been my favourite class throughout the Final Fantasy franchise. Right now. So here are my suggestions.

    1. Ruin is always going to be part of the summoner's job. This is the defining ability. Also at level 1 you get the trait to summon Carbuncle. All the time the summoner is alive it will be active. However Carbuncle has some changes. It will now autoattack. It will have a 2 button rotation that it automatically uses every time you cast Ruin. Both Ruin and Carbuncle's attack generates a new gage. When it gets full you will be able to summon other summons'.

    At level 5 you get a quest in which you learn Radiant Aegis. This will heal for 400 pot and will be based off the caster's Intelligence and have a 60 sec cooldown. It also creates a barrier on yourself for 20% of your maximum hp for 20 secs. At this level you also gain Aethercharge which does exactly what it does now, with the addition of increasing the new gage by 50.

    You also gain Summon Ruby at level 5. Summon Ruby will transform Ruin into Ruby Ruin and Radiant Aegis changes to Searing Light which increases all damage by 5%. Fester will become Blaze which does 120 potency damage and places a 25 Potency Fire dortwhich stacks 2 times to a max of 50.l

    Precious Brilliance is Carbuncle and summoner's aoe. When you use this ability, Carbuncle and the summoner cast it at the same time, both doing 100 potency each. Ruby Ruin changes this to Ruby Catastrophe. Both the Summoner and Ruby Carbuncle will cast a spell that has a 3 sec cast time that deals 210 damage to all targets. This absorbs 25% of your summoner gage.

    New Summoner Gage. While normal Carbuncle is out its attacks, all your spells will generate gage. When it reaches 100% which happens really quickly, you get to summon Ruby, Topaz etc as instant casts. They are off global cooldown so do not break rotation, but when you summon Ruby your abilities cost gage and some cost more than other.

    Dot at level 10. You learn Fester and summon Topaz, which in turn becomes Topaz Ruin. Fester becomes Quake which is an aoe instant cast off global cool down damage that deals 200 potency to all targets and puts a 10% heavy on all targets which stacks 2 times and lasts 8 secs max of 20% heavy. Topaz Ruin is an instant cast ability with a lightning fast cooldown with a 5% chance to stun. Radiant Aegis becomes Earthen Ward which allows you to target yourself or nearby party member, with 20% reduced all damage with a 50% emnity increase for 8 secs. Before you say this doesn't make sense, tanks don't need any more help with emnity and I want you to imagine you are out teaming with a melee dps friend and you put this on them. So basicly it is a tank stance you put on other people. Topaz Brilliance which is an aoe effect which costs the least amount of gage. It deals 120 Potency and also has a 5% chance to stun.

    At level 15 we summon Emerald Carbuncle. Emerald Ruin has the least gage cost is an instant cast and has the lowest global cooldown in the game but does the least amount of damage out of all your summons. Radiant Aegis becomes Reviving Winds. This is an instant cast resurrection spell that costs all of your gage. Emerald Brilliance deals wind damage to the target and all nearby enemies with a potency of 430 for the first enemy and 40% less for all remaining ones. Additional effect upon impact it creates a windstorm centred around the target that deals continuous damage to all those who are inside the area or who enter the area for 30 potency and 15 secs. Fester becomes Twister which creates a very small tornado on the field that deals continuous damage to those who are standing on it. You can have two of them on the field at the same time, or if you put one twister on top of another it becomes bigger. This stacks with Emerald Brilliance.

    Level 20 summon Sapphire. Ruin becomes Sapphire Ruin. This has a 420 potency and 1.5 sec cast time and places a shiver effect on enemies. The shiver effect is an ice dot that puts a 3% slow that stacks four times at a maximum of 12% slow and with a dot of 55 potency over 30%. Fester becomes Shatter. Shatter cannot be cast if you don't have 4 stacks of shiver on the target. When you cast shatter, it consumes all existing shiver stacks on the target and deals damage equivalent to all existing dots on target. This includes slipstream and twister and other summons' dots. This does big damage. Radiant Aegis becomes Frost Aegis. This increases the magic and melee evasion on target of 30%. This will make most attacks on a player have a 30% chance to miss and will also deal 20 potency additional damage for each autoattack/ This lasts up to 8 seconds and can be put on a single player. Sapphire Brilliance is an instant cast ability that puts shiver and binds all targets for about 5 secs.
    level 25 Summon Amethyst. Amethyst Ruin has a 2.0 sec cast time and has a 200 potency with an additional effect on the next amethyst spell you cast making it cost no gage and is instant cast. Fester is now Energy Drain which deals more damage than the original Energy Drain. Radiant Aegis becomes Static Shield. When anytime the target is attacked they take 30 potency lightning damage and an additonal 15 potency for just being near other targets. This ability has a 5% chance Paralyze every time it does damage. The chances of it actually proccing are extremely low. Amethyst Brilliance becomes Thunderstorm. Remember shadowflare before they removed it from the game, this is the ability.

    Level 30 Aquamarine Carbuncle. Ruin become Aquamarine Ruin. This Ruin has a 2 sec cast time, a 280 potency and adds 3 seconds to all existing dots that you have placed on a target. Radiant Aegis becomes Restorative Bubble which is a hot effect plus shield on the target. This also stacks with the existing Aegis on the target. Fester becomes Aquajet which deals 240 damage instant cast with a 4 sec silence and pacify. Radiant Brilliance Tidal Wave. Tidal Wave is a cone aoe that does 350 potence Aoe with a 2.5 secs cast time. This is your big aoe. You also learn Enkindle 1. Every time you summon one of your summons it will perform an attack.

    At level 30 when you become summoner you get summon Ifrit, summon Titan and summon Garuda.

    At level 35 Aethercharge will become DreadWyrm Trance.

    At level 40 Amethyst, Sapphire and Aquamarine will become Ramuh, Shiva, and Leviathon.

    At level 45 Dreadwyrm trance will become Summon Bahamet. It has its own abilities. Chaos Ruin which astral impulse which deals 440 potence at a cost of 50 gage. Radiant Brilliance becomes Painflare which does 250 potence to all targets off global cooldown. Ragiant aegis becomes dreadwyrm aegis which increases all magic damage you deal by 50% for 15 sec. Fester becomes Akhmorn which deals unexpected damage to target and all enemies nearby with a potence of 1300 to the first target and 50% less to all others. This costs 50 gage.

    Level 50 summon Pheonix Enkindle 2 You also do a second enkindle after the summon charge bar becomes zero. tbc...

    Yes all summons have auto attacks 2 button rotations and 1 button weaving off global cooldown. You don't control these abilities. Think chocobo.

    all summons give you two aetherflow stacks that you can use on fester. All summons are instant cast and off global cooldown. Summoners' rotation is not static,it is reactive. Each summon has an important part to play. Leviathan and Titan are tank pets where ares shiva and Ifrit are melee dps. Ranged dps are Garuda and Ramah.

    Ramah's magic is ranged dps and Garuda is physical ranged dps. Melee dps pets are different - Ifrit attacks harder but slower whereas Shive attacks quick less damage.
    Phoenix transforms Ruin, Fester and Aegis spell and Brilliant Spell into four new spells. Aegis spell becomes flaming rebirth which is another instant cast resurrection spell that puts a HOT on a target. If the target is alive they get a HOT effect for 20 secs and they also deal 35 potency every time they use an ability or autoattack.

    Flaming Ruin is 420 potency at a 1.50 cast time with a 1.50 global cooldown. Fester is a 200 potency with additional effect placing 85 potency every 3 seconds over 30 seconds and can stack twice to a whopping 170 potency every 2 seconds for 30 seconds which makes this the hardest hitting DOT in the entire game. The AOE version Flaming Brilliance is a 380 potency AOE that does fire damage and also heals everyone in the party for 200 potency over 15 secs.

    For 50-110 levels you will not get anything other than traits that upgrade what I listed above, for instant Bahamet becomes Solar Behamut, whereas Carbuncles become Egis' and Egis become Demis. For you to get Demis you must battle each individual summons but of course these summons are toned down and you have to beat them into submission. These are quests that you do later on in the game. This is a nod to FFXI where they made the summons feel like an achievement than rather than just something that is given to you. Do not worry, these battles are not hard, there is nothing that a warrior of light couldn't handle themselves.

    Sorry, hard nope. Nothing involving Temu Bahamut is acceptable. Any other consideration is irrelevant. Summoner cannot heal unless Temu Bahamut is purged.
    (I mostly jest but only somewhat, I truly hate that ugly fake-bahamut with a passion, it looks sooooooooo unbelievably cheap and modded...)

    One thing I'm not quite sure about is how this'd work outside of solo-ing. Do I get to pick the pets I summon? If yes, why would I ever want to summon anything but the melee DPS ones? Even solo, I suspect getting the enemy dead faster is worth a lot more than having a tank pet for them (see old combat potato).

    If it's random which I can summon next (doesn't sound like that from the gauge description), how do melee vs ranged pets differentiate themselves (considering there's no problem to them being in melee?) and what do tank pets add to groups? But in that case I kinda like the idea, as it means one could cram a lot of support into the class, it just might not be available when needed?
