I'm very much looking forward to this feature. I'm not a fan of the goofy anime direction a lot of the actions have taken in recent years. DRG for example used to have animations that felt very powerful and had a weight to them, now they're all very floaty and lack impact. Also, making MCH do less unnecessary somersaults will be great.

Skies the limit on how much they will milk players for these action skins.
Why do you even remotely assume that it will be free?
Maybe they'll give some very basic reskins for free obtainable in a limited time just as a tease, but that's about it.

I think it's most likely that at least most of them will be free. I think a lot of them are going to be for old abilities that have been removed, like Kaitan, for instance, or making that new big attack shown in evolved mode look like the blood Lilly. This would be something pretty difficult to be paid imo, considering the number of jobs there are. It's possible that they'll make some paid ones down the line but if so, I think it will be like emotes where there's some paid, but still mostly free.

Making all of them, in a major feature they showed at fanfest and hyped up, for a $20 game plus $40 expansion while charging $13-15 a month for a subscription would be by far the dumbest thing the devs ever do, especially at a time when the game is under increased scrutiny. I'd probably quit right then and there if they did such a thing, but I don't think there's a chance they will. Personally, I'm not worried.

I would be more excited if this game didn't have an online shop.

But please continue to boo at f2p game and clap when Yoshi P says this game will never be that, because they're soooo different.

Honestly, same, I can absolutely see why people are worried, the cash shop is getting ridiculous with the prices items are at, and the sheer amount of them, especially at a time when the economy is suffering. Honestly I'm opposed to microtransactions on princible in a game like this, but if you're going to have them, the prices should be 1/3 of what they are! It's just greedy. But that's a topic for another thread I suppose.

If they make the skins time locked FOMO slop though? That's the worst, the FOMO in this game is already at about the max I can tolerate and that's the thing I'm most worried about with next expansion. Unfortunately things come up in life that prevent many people from playing and obtaining these items, and I hate missing out.

I hope we have a lot of control over which actions we get to skin. I'm actually not super enthused about the idea of BRD getting a 3 part combo as its filler so I hope to be able to skin the Burst Shot animation back on to the first 2 hits, and Refulgent Arrow on the 3rd hit. Also let me use the Low Blow animation on the new consolidated Interject button.

So long as all old actions are ingame i dont care what they make for the store, not that they should but alas. I would switch to Stone spells on WHM over Glare in an instant or Gravity 1 for AST

I agree online shop items are overpriced, but let's not forget that this is kind of an industry-wide problem. It sucks, but it's aligned with competition.

Doesn't mean we should accept it. In fact, the fact that it's an industry-wide problems just means we should all fight harder in every game that has it IMO. Hopefully it's not a problem here with Action Skins, I don't think it will be much of one but I do support people voicing their concerns for sure, since the devs do seem to be paying closer attention to the forums now, thankfully.

The war was lost when companies started getting away with cash shops and other paid cosmetics in the mid-2000s. This is the reality that consumers worldwide chose and still actively support.

Personally, I’m looking forward to the system. My own biggest hope is that they use this to bring back animations that were removed over the years, in particular the tank enmity combos. I really loved DRK’s (although I also love their dps one), and I liked WAR’s enmity combo way more than their dps one. I kinda forget what PLD’s was but anyway, I just miss the old animations so getting to have those back is great to me.
