Regarding Issues with Hidden Onscreen Furnishings

To facilitate furnishing limitation adjustments in Patch 7.5, we implemented a system wherein furnishings on other floors of the house are hidden if the player is not present on them and the number of onscreen items exceeds 400. Additionally, other inconspicuous furnishings may be hidden based on their size and distance from the player. However, we have received numerous reports stating that this occurs even when fewer than 400 furnishings have been placed.

In addition to verification across a variety of environments (PC specifications and platforms), we have also investigated through a wide range of methods such as copying the housing data of affected players into our development environment. However, we have not been able to reproduce the issue even once in the development environment so far, and identifying the cause has proven difficult.

Based on our analysis of the program, it is unlikely that the display limit processing would trigger when fewer than 400 furnishings are present. As such, we have formed the hypothesis that, under certain conditions, information for furnishings that were previously rendered on screen may continue to remain in the client's memory, and that this may be added to the current on-screen count. However, currently we do not have enough information to confirm this, and we have not yet been able to establish a clear direction for a fix.

To help us solve the issue, if you encounter the behaviors described, we would greatly appreciate it if you could submit a detailed report using the provided template. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

    ・World name: Hyperion

・Housing information (residential district / ward / plot): Shirogane, Ward 11, Plot 15

    ・Character name: Chauncey Dlamini

    ・Number of furnishings placed: 449

・Number of hired NPCs / mannequins placed: 3 mannequins

・Number of furnishings with light sources placed: 10

・Number of times you entered/left the house from client launch until the issue occurred: It happens everytime I enter my house

・Actions immediately before the issue occurred (placing/removing furnishings, camera movement, etc.): Moving camera, moving character

・Item name(s) of the furnishing(s) affected: All furnishings can do it

・Number of characters inside the house when the issue occurred: Only 1

・If other characters were present, did they observe the same issue as well? : No

・After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you leave the house once and re-enter? : People have discovered if you cancel a teleport while inside your home, leave out the door, then reenter and repeat the process a 2nd time it disables whatever system you all implemented for a display limit. My game runs perfectly once I've done that, and I've made a habit of doing it each time I log on. Please at least make it an option to disable the limit for visible furnishings on PS5, it's capable of handling the extra items on screen.

・After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you restart the client and enter the house immediately after logging in? : Yes

・If the issue was resolved by any action other than leaving/re-entering the house or restarting the client, please let us know: People have discovered if you cancel a teleport while inside your home, leave out the door, then reenter and repeat the process a 2nd time it disables whatever system you all implemented for a display limit. ・Additional details (if any): My issue is I have a nice spread of items placed on the 1st and 2nd floor of my house, but the system routinely chooses to hide the items within my view instead of choosing items on a different floor. Running around my house is a constant disappearing and reappearing of items within my direct vicinity. People have found a fix online, by canceling teleports, but I want others to see my house as intended. Housing has always kept me subscribed even through lulls in the game, and I hope you all are able to get the new system working for those of us who use it to it's fullest. Thank you.

Other player only observes 1-2 furnishings disappearing rarely. For me, nearly all furnishings disappear when I walk away from them.

・After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you leave the house once and re-enter? :
    Yes.

・After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you restart the client and enter the house immediately after logging in? :
No, I restarted game and entered house again, furnishings no longer disappearing.

・If the issue was resolved by any action other than leaving/re-entering the house or restarting the client, please let us know:

    ・Additional details (if any):
    - Furnishings disappear when I move far away from them (about half the floor distance in a large house), even if I've got my camera focused on them.
    - All furnishings are placed in the middle floor, which is where I observed the issue.
    - When I entered house first time the glitch didn't happen, but then I left and did other things. I came back to the house after about an hour and then the issue started.

・Number of times you entered/left the house from client launch until the issue occurred: Multiple, not noted in detail, but >10

・Actions immediately before the issue occurred (placing/removing furnishings, camera movement, etc.): Walking around in the house or camera movement

・Item name(s) of the furnishing(s) affected: Queen's Rest (the conal light that it projects down into the room flickers)

・Number of characters inside the house when the issue occurred: 2

・If other characters were present, did they observe the same issue as well? : No

・After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you leave the house once and re-enter? : Yes

・After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you restart the client and enter the house immediately after logging in? : Not immediately, but after a while it happened again.

・If the issue was resolved by any action other than leaving/re-entering the house or restarting the client, please let us know:
The issue is resolved temporarily using this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpgK9Bbn6wk
But after logging out/in, and a while after, it starts occurring again intermittently.

    ・Additional details (if any):
The main issue that I'm concerned about is Queen's rest, which many housing decorators use for the conal light that it projects down, the actual furniture itself is floated very high above the floor, and we only use the light it produces. The new optimisation feature seems to think that because the actual Queen's rest itself is not on the same floor, it can be removed, but the actual feature we need from it is not the furniture itself, but the light it produces. Please make sure that the light from that furniture is not removed, even if the actual furniture lies on a different floor.

Is the issue for large house even being addressed? what about large houses and how we can't make use of the MAIN FEATURE of the large house which is the tall cealing build?
apparently priorities are set by floor so if we're on the first floor and look at 2nd floor, all lights disappears, if we're on the 2nd floor and look down at 1st floor, all lights disappear.......
If we make a tall build that goes from 1st floor to 2nd floor cealing, how is that suppose to work?? did anyone even consider this before this update?

I'd rather have it reverted back to 400 limit, large houses are basically un-designable after this update.

Housing information (residential district / ward / plot): Mist, Ward 12, Topmast Wing 2 Room#1

    Character name: Caillea Grimhald

    Number of furnishings placed: 150

Number of hired NPCs / mannequins placed: 0

Number of furnishings with light sources placed:

    Cosmolamp - 5
    Glade Lantern - 2
    Oasis Lantern - 10

Number of times you entered/left the house from client launch until the issue occurred: 1

Actions immediately before the issue occurred (placing/removing furnishings, camera movement, etc.): Walking around the apartment, moving the camera around

Item name(s) of the furnishing(s) affected: Minimalist Poplar Partition Door, Kugane Phasmascape

Number of characters inside the house when the issue occurred: 1

If other characters were present, did they observe the same issue as well? : Friend came in after and didn't notice the same issue when I asked them to try doing same steps

After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you leave the house once and re-enter? : Yes

After the issue occurred, does it persist even if you restart the client and enter the house immediately after logging in? :

If the issue was resolved by any action other than leaving/re-entering the house or restarting the client, please let us know: it surprisingly was ok after restarting the client

Additional details (if any): I was removing a furniture and was reattaching it when the glitch happened. Its just apartment room and it got me concerned since its only 150 slots, not the 200 furnishing issue.

    ---

I appreciate the housing update by giving us additional slots but if this glitch is what's to become of housing and FFXIV devs leave it as it is then I would rather go back to the old furniture cap :/

    Hello everyone,

Thank you all for your help in our investigation!

We've been looking through the details we received and narrowed it down to several possible causes, but we're still working to identify the actual cause.

Given the situation, the Development team opted to disable the furnishing-hiding feature for now, as mentioned in the patch notes. With the feature turned off, the issue can no longer be reproduced as of Patch 7.51, so I'll be closing this thread.

Our apologies for the inconvenience caused by the issue, and thank you again for all of your support!
