Can someone explain to me how Vipers supposed to be considered OP?

I've just started trying to play Viper in CC, I used to play Drk, Gunbreaker, and Drg. As a Viper I've never felt a more terrible experience, I hit like a noodle and get one shot constantly, I understand that I'm new to the job so probably just doing it wrong, but I genuinely don't understand how this kit is even considered viable let alone OP.

They're speaking of Frontlines when making those complaints, sir. In CC VPR is a modest no frills bruiser that honestly... I play when I can't be arsed to think lol. It's pretty chill like that, strategy wise.

More in the know players will get more bang for their buck damage wise since they know how to reposition Backlash with either Slither or the LB. You can do this by mashing either of those two leaping options, or by macro to combine the two things (Backlash and a leap). I opt for the latter.

Without knowing that, yes I'd say the job is pretty eh damaging wise as its manner of delivery is pretty slow, either animation wise or just that the damage is split into so many chip attacks. It's not necessarily the amount it can actually do, it's how.

To cover the Frontlines debacle briefly, it's the addition of other features present in that mode that's got people stressing over it. 60% passive damage reduction as an exception that's higher than any other job in the game. Bloodbath, that recently got its damage buff component improved. And if they get the luxury of tangible support in those settings ... Bravery (a phys ranged role action) granting them a further 25% atk/def at effectively 15 sec downtime intervals.

So then throw in how (imo) the job is simple to play, and you got a whole lot of new adopters littering the scene and padding up millions or whatever with little effort. That is irking some of the Frontlines only folks.

    Hope that helps a little!

If you talk about CC, then its only broken in low ranks or unranked CC, because as VPR you just push forwards and use scales, the opponents will attack you while you absorb the damage and then dash on them with the AOE and absorb HP and re-do it again. No other class can easily push forwards like VPR and survive that good and even has life steal.
I do not play frontline much, just for the daily quests, but this class can be annoying within a good team constellations, where you just absorb damage, are immune to CCs and then dash on the opponents - absorb HP and repeat it... that gives your team a huge advantage, be it in Frontline or CC.

FL broken because of role actions and massive lifesteal potential.
CC a bit broken and largely depends on the team but Viper can still massively stall the game and allow their teammates to come back. Any job that can stall so much in 1v5 situations is considered a bit broken than others.

Yes, that's true, there is no other job that can do that, than VPR (without LB) and the worst thing of all, that VPR can use it twice and the cooldown gets even reduced if they kill someone on the opponents team

VPR feels more of a real TANK class than DPS in PvP

Naw you can't strip them of it all, it needs some of that lifesteal to be viable. I don't like that VPR is specifically designed like that, turning it into a budget tank vs. its flashy agile PvE counterpart, but that's what the devs have gone with. It was only out of line when they absent-mindedly bumped Blacklash leech to 100%, which made my eyes pop just seeing it on some patch notes. That's when it impacted CC too much as well, as expected.

Personally I think the assist reset requirement of Rattling Coil is too low, but that's just me, it used to take more effort.

I don't actually get the boost to Slither to be just Sprint speed now either. Having it on just the LB phase is enough. Then again I haven't liked it since they changed it from attack boost to run speed. In prelim build VPR it allowed it to do a neat actually-a-burst thing during LB without needing to know the jump trick.

As some others have been saying, it looks intimidating to most new players who don't have the mind to spread to force them to jump if they know how. Outside of an overtime situation where you're losing it's just kind of whatever with the way a lot of players use it (in the middle of it all expecting to tank the world with little regard to what LBs or utility is available).

Think of VPR's OPness on a grading slope: Player vs VPR.

If the player is trash at PvP, then VPRs are OP to play against.

If the player is okay at PvP, then VPRs are middling to play against

If the player is good at PvP, then VPRs are barely a problem.

That's why VPR is one of the best classes to climb out of CC Bronze Elo, just use scales on crystal, while the opponents are attacking you and giving your team a big chance to attack and fight back and turn the match to your favor.
In higher ranks it does not work, that's true and that's why VPR isn't a problem there. Still this class is broken in low rank elo and it can be frustrating as a new player to fight against.
Its the same with SCH: Good in the higher ranks but bad in lower ranks (I've even seen a SCH being ignore marked in lower ranks, because no one knew how to play with that class and they tought 1v3 is a very good idea)
In my opinion tank classes should have this ability like VPR to be that tanky.
