I find myself queueing up less and less with these changes. Again, it's just a bit boring - sense of achievement has kind of been diminished.

I play FF14 for PVP
Same feeling. I barely play FL at all anymore and it was the only thing I actually liked doing in DT (2k+ games played this expansion). Won't be resubbing again unless they undo this BH change. Ruined the entire game mode. Frontlines peaked in 7.1 and has gotten worse every patch since because the devs just can't resist ruining a good thing.

there's less stakes and its less competitive, before you had incentive to fight and go after high value targets, now it's just: move around like an aimless mob, collapse on stragglers, do objectives. Assists giving so much BH is lame too. BH means nothing now. Why are they making these changes? Who are they appealing to?
Ok I've had more time with this new change and here what I additionally think.
1. I think it's throwing people into mass psychosis. I don't know if it's some kind of brand new mental high from having bh5 when they normally wouldnt causing it or what, but some people are actually losing their minds and having full blown psychotic episodes mid-match to the point of risking their entire accounts over the smallest of things, it's actually a little interesting.
2. It's making it extremely easy to see exactly who's afking the entire match because if your whole team has high bh but you've still got nothing, then its extremely apparent that you're just flat out not participating at all in any significant way. Even if its Seal Rock and you're playing guard duty at the capture points, you'll still get BH from when you have to fight and defend. So, it's been useful in that sense I guess to physically see that someones just likely sandbagging/afking/griefing on purpose over stupid reasons like not liking someone else on their same team and should be vote-kicked out immediately.
Other than that, I still feel the same.
It's a whatever update. I want to say it encourages the team to be more involved now that they all get bh much quicker, but it for sure also does make people too comfortable with dying more as well. So. Eh!

I don't think I could disagree with a post more.there's less stakes and its less competitive, before you had incentive to fight and go after high value targets, now it's just: move around like an aimless mob, collapse on stragglers, do objectives. Less stakes - debatable. Yes, there's no BH loss now so a death is somewhat less costly to the individual themselves (though still an inconvenience given they have to respawn and run back to the fight, all the while losing time which could've been spent dealing damage). However, it continues to be a point loss to the team, meaning it still has a negative effect, which can risk the teams chances of winning if not minimised.
Less competitive - and what gives you this impression? From the many, many games I've played since the update, games have generally been more aggressive and competitive, with typically closer matches. Obviously, there's always exceptions to that in which the difference between the ability of the teams is leagues apart, but, for the most part, competitiveness seems to have improved.
No incentive to fight and go after high value targets - a claim plucked from nowhere. There is more incentive to fight than ever - partly why the update hasn't been taken so well by some. Gaining early BH has always been important. With the update, that's a slower process that rewards killing high BH enemies first, helping weaker teams catch up. The only occasions this doesn't work out is the status-quo, 'don't even attempt to get BH' approach of many FL roulette players. Rather unsurprisingly, such players aren't a fan of it. Ironic considering it's a change meant to favour and support them
Keeping your BH places a greater value to it once you've got it. As I said: there is more incentive to fight than ever.
This is what it was already (and still can be for some full rouletter games). To try and pin the blame for this on the update is laughable.now it's just: move around like an aimless mob, collapse on stragglers, do objectives

You can't tell who are the high value targets anymore in a sea of BH5 to be honest.
Got to do some guess work on player behavior and suspicious jobs to watch out for.
