how dare you bring logic into a rokien topic you heathenExcept nothing will be a 'surprise' or a 'secret' the very instant ANYONE finds it. Then they will plaster it all over every fansite and in the official forums. In fact, most people will not bother to hunt down the 'secrets' they'll merely wait for someone else to tell them where it is.
Yes that is true, so what? At least SE made an effort on something cool. Besides there are people like me that hardly go to the wikis.Except nothing will be a 'surprise' or a 'secret' the very instant ANYONE finds it. Then they will plaster it all over every fansite and in the official forums. In fact, most people will not bother to hunt down the 'secrets' they'll merely wait for someone else to tell them where it is.

I get your point but "some will, some wont." Yoshida is already planning on bringing in iconic ff nostalgia. Color me yellow, like a Choco, but from what I remember in the old FF titles you would bump into quest. I think Rokien is onto something here.Except nothing will be a 'surprise' or a 'secret' the very instant ANYONE finds it. Then they will plaster it all over every fansite and in the official forums. In fact, most people will not bother to hunt down the 'secrets' they'll merely wait for someone else to tell them where it is.
By the way give Rokien a break. Sometimes his post are a little "over exaggerated"...you hear me Rokien? However he does bring up good topics every now an then. His post actually cause some activity in these dry forums.
Yeah because we didn't see half the forums having a AWESOME time trying to find all the glowing stones before SE decided to plaster them on the map for us.Except nothing will be a 'surprise' or a 'secret' the very instant ANYONE finds it. Then they will plaster it all over every fansite and in the official forums. In fact, most people will not bother to hunt down the 'secrets' they'll merely wait for someone else to tell them where it is.
Take that as a great example as how hidden content can be fuled and not hurt by community places such as forums. It was a mad dash to find all the stones. What was the reward nothing but knowing that we found something the dev team slid in secretly in the patch.
Happy ending for all parties, the community got to have a blast figuring the positioning and possible meaning behind the stones and the rest of the community got to learn the locations. Why SE had to go and just plaster them on our maps for the quest is beyond me. Perfect oportunity to get people to actually explore the world before it's gone and they ruin it by giving you exact direction to every single stone on the map.

I personally like the idea!
Give us fun Easter eggs, funny side stories, something!
Not everyone likes paying attention to stories or small details, heck. Most people I know skip past reading CS just to obtain their exp/money. But, I ENJOY fun content!
Like, as Xahjk said, the Wandering Mistral was a fantastic idea.

But their is nothing wrong with expressing a desire for more of said content, and the technique to be carried over to ARR. The more it is expressed, the more likely someone of influence will see it and therefore more likely to make it in to ARR. Point found

I was hoping for this when I heard yoshiP played skyrim. Skyrim has many secret quests hidden for players to stumble upon. It creates an adventure and story telling when you tell your friends you've woken up the other side of the planet from a certain drink.
Another one of these threads?
