    7.5 CPU Temps

Making this post, as a few of us over on Reddit are all experiencing the same thing.

Ever since patch 7.5 we are finding that our CPU temps seem to be spiking a lot higher around all main cities. Other areas are also affected like Gangos, alliance raids, and even hunt trains. I've personally gone from about 50c-58c to after 7.5 now hitting 70-80c, which is causing my fans to constantly kick into full spin. This is specific to patch 7.5, as this never used to happen, and isn't an issue specific to me, as lots of others on Reddit have been having the same exact thing. It isn't game-breaking or anything, but it is frustrating to hear my fans turn into jet engines any time I do an alliance raid, or just want to relax in Gridania.

Most people, including me, all seem to have the same CPU with this issue - AMD 7800x3d

Anyone got any ideas as to what might be happening here to those of us with this issue suddenly?

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We appreciate you for reaching out to us about this concern and we know a smooth gaming experience is important to you. The issue you're currently exepriencing could be most associated with interference with the game data. It can be a result from certain security/privacy changes on Microsoft Edge. Other times, it occurs when an application running in the background causes interference, such as anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, communications software, etc.

Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference before attempting to log in.

You can also try Right-Clicking on the FFXIV launcher icon and select “Run as Administrator.” This option can also be set permanently by Right-Clicking on the FFXIV launcher icon, selecting Properties, then under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” and clicking OK.

Within Microsoft Edge, click the "Settings" option on the top right of the browser (under the three dots shown) and go to "Privacy, Search and Services" and go to the "Tracking Prevention" section. Make sure it is turned on and select the "Balanced" option.

Additionally, if any settings have been changed overall, it is best to keep things at default which you can perform manually by using the "Reset Settings" option under the "Settings" tab. Lastly, please ensure that Microsoft Edge is up to date by using the "Settings" > "About Microsoft Edge" option near the bottom left.

If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, there may be a communication error.

Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

*You may learn how to do this by visiting http://www.portforward.com/
Find your specific router's brand and model number from the 'List of Routers' and you will be provided a step-by-step guide on how to access these port settings.
Otherwise, your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your computer directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the computer for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XIV.

If you continue to receive these same errors when you are connected directly to the modem, then the problem lies with your ISP. We would recommend contacting your provider and advising them that one or more of the ports previously provided to you are being blocked or filtered, and that you do need access on these ports.

If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to let us know so we can help out! Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

I created the thread on reddit, todays patch didnt change anything. Neither did any of the options listed above as this is entirely a CPU issue within the game.

On the reddit thread and within my free company, everyone with this problem also had an AMD 7800X3D and is experiencing increased temperatures of roughly 10 degrees or more during very specific events and can be repeated over and over again without fail and produce the same results every single time.

    1. Go to any busy area (Towns, Hunt Trains, Frontlines).
    2. CPU will immediately raise in temperature along with fan RPM.
    3. Point the camera AWAY from the crowd so your screen is empty with none or very few player characters visible.
    4. Temperature and fans RPM will immediately decrease.
    5. Move the camera back into view of other players and temperatures and fan RPM will again increase.

I can repeat this behavior 100% of the time and has only occurred since the 7.5 patch, previously temperatures and fan behavior have been as expected and was very consistent across the game regardless of what was happening.

I have to agree with Tribus; this isn't an isolated issue on just my end, as many other players are all experiencing the same thing as me. The only thing we have in common is this specific CPU, and we all started getting the issue at the same time, as soon as the game came up after the maintenance for 7.5; prior to this, the game was fine and the temps were fine.
I have checked the things recommend above regardless, but to no avail, the issue still persists.

It's definitely not an isolated issue, I am also a user with AMD 7800x3D and it started happening to me as well, exactly after patch 7.5 and I have tried everything already, it is only happening on FFXIV, I remember I was playing an hour or two before the maintenance and everything was fine, I logged out in Idyllshire, the next day after the patch released, the temps were going up like crazy with me being in Idyllshire with no one around me, I noticed almost immediately, it is an issue that has started after Patch 7.5, like Tribunus linked already, the reddit post already shows that it is not really an isolated but honestly every user having that CPU and it is only happening in FFXIV.

Yeah, agreeing with the people above there's been something in this patch which is causing 7800x3d to run noticeably warmer. Not entirely sure how fiddling with ports on my router is going to improve my CPU temperature (which was fine before 7.5) so a more constructive approach/fix would be ideal.

Same as above. 7800x3d also, ran perfectly before 7.5, after the update I get high CPU temps and ramped up fans in places where it never did before, like quiet areas or alliance raids.
