    Unexpected Error 1b1

I decided to redownload the game and keep getting this error shortly after launching the game, or as soon as I click play. I reached out to support and have already tried everything they had recommended. Disabling anti-virus, running as admin, changing resolutions. I have reinstalled the game twice and restored it 4-5 times from the launcher. The last thing they said was to try running it on DirectX 9, my computer is currently running DirectX 12. Is there anyway to set just this game up to try and run DirectX 9 or 11? Or would I need to download 11 and have my pc run that for everything and overwrite 12 somehow?

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I'm very sorry about the error you encountered. "Error 1b1" usually indicates a file corruption, file access issue (often related to OneDrive), or corrupted user settings in the "My Documents" folder.

    Common Solutions for Error 1b1:

Check OneDrive/Documents Folder: The game cannot access your Documents folder, often caused by OneDrive "Save space" features.
Go to OneDrive Settings and disable "Save space and download files as you use them".
Alternatively, navigate to Documents/My Games/ and delete the FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn folder. (Note: This will reset your local settings, hotbars, and gear sets if not backed up via the server).
Update/Reinstall GPU Drivers: Perform a clean installation of your graphics card drivers.
Disable Overlays: Turn off overlays from Discord, GeForce Experience, or Steam.
Run as Administrator: Right-click the FFXIV launcher and select "Run as Administrator".
Check System Integrity: Ensure Windows is fully updated.
Check Hardware: If errors persist, test for failing RAM or SSD/HDD storage.

If the error continues, you may need to reinstall the game.

I do not have One drive installed on this computer anymore. I have tried to delete that folder out of my documents as well. I just installed the game and am trying to reinstall it and now getting an error -80 when trying to even install the game.

The error you are referencing is often associated with interference of game data, or a connection issue. For errors such as these, we would recommend trying out the following troubleshooting, as it may help with alleviating the issue:

    1. Please make sure all background applications have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference before attempting to log in. This includes any anti-virus programs you may have on the computer (such as Kaspersky, etc).

    2. If you haven't done so already, please be sure to adjust the following settings in ""Internet Options"" within the Control Panel:
    - Under the ""General"" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the ""Security"" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than ""Medium""
    - Under the ""Privacy"" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the ""Advanced"" tab, please make sure that ""Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid"" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit ""Apply"" to save the settings, and then ""OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select ""Properties""

Once these settings have been adjusted, hit ""Apply"", then ""OK"", and restart the PC after. We hope these steps are helpful.
