    How should I proceed?

I haven't played since the first month of release and then I struggled and played all I could for three weeks and barely got rank points. I ended up at rank 21.

Now I don't have any friends to play with and I don't know how to level the most efficient way. I just logged in and did some solo-levequests at Camp Tranquil but other than that I have no clue about solo camps and strategies as of now.

Can someone give me a push in the right direction?

If your server is anything like mine, the very first thing you should do is walk to Ul'dah, because nobody is ever at Camp Tranquil. Get some Camp Horizon leves. Go to Horizon, shout for guildleves and/or join behest and invite people to join you on your leves at the end of behest. With people linking, you'll probably get R23 after two behests and 3 leves. Now you can go back to Ul'dah, get Nanawa Mines leves, and do it again. During this grinding, see if you can pick up an LS invite. If you post what server you're on, someone on the forums will probably offer you one.

You could look at the official forums for Figaro or New Player Help to see if there's an LS on Figaro with people near your rank that you could do things with. You might also try similar forums on popular fan sites like ffxivcore.com and ffxiv.zam.com, but they may be less busy now that there are official forums. I haven't checked. I'd like to help you personally, but I can't do much from Wutai.

Most English Linkshells also have their own websites. Aside from some threads starting in the Figaro Section on these official forums here, fansites like ZAM, FFXIV Core etc will have similar world-specific forums and you'll find linkshell recruitment threads in them. Those threads will direct you to the shell's own website/forums/guild setup and you can apply there.

Pick one that sounds like your type. Different shells have different types of people, after all.

Figaro, which I am also on, has at least half a dozen to a dozen Linkshells actively going at any given time.
