    File Access Failed During Version Check [11018]

    I started getting this error months back and have had no luck resolving it. Uninstalling/reinstalling does not fix the issue and nothing on the internet as a fix seems to work. There's a bandaid of running it as administrator but the problem persists. Seems like this issue has been around for some people for at least 9 years now and still no fix?

    Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    In order get a better sense of the problem could you please provide the following information?


    - Platform (PC, Steam, Mac)
    - Any error codes or messages you receive upon disconnect (if any)
    - Type of connection (wired or wireless)
    - Are you running any addition programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?
    - Were any update or changes made to the PC at the time of the crash?
    - Does the issue occur when you run the game with Administrative Privileges?

    Please provide a system report as well. You can do so by going to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of the 'System Information' click on 'Display'.
