/sit forces you out of aggro stance. I don't see it doing anything in and of itself.

I was curious about this so decided to test for myself. I had 2 WHM use Holy at the same time. One of them did /sit immediately afterwards whilst the other remained standing. I can confirm the WHM who was standing achieved full MP faster than the one who was sitting. I assume this is because no MP was recovered during the long /sit animation. Try this and you will see sitting has no benefit whatsoever.
Doesn't seem seem like the following posters read this ...standing still for X amount of time helps you recover MP faster. before /facetarget, using /sit allowed you to force the server to recognize you'd stopped moving, to squeeze out an extra tick or two of mp regen before you had to move again. now that we have /facetarget, though, it's basically pointless to use /sit
Hitting your facetarget key does make you hit the high mp recovery period faster (like /sit does).
In most groups I'm in sitting is just the casters way of saying "don't count on me right now, I'm recovering mp," without having to text anything.
The only thing that matters is the time being stationary (and therefore forcing the server to recognize this more quickly, now doable by /facetarget ('H' by default) as mentioned above).
/sit is just considered as an emote. It doesn't bring anything gameplay wise.
Antipika.

Yes but the sit animation takes about 4 seconds, during which time you are not recovering MP. It only takes 1-2 seconds at most for the server to acknowledge you are not moving (this is without /facetarget). Hence, sitting offers no regen benefit and actually wastes time.
sitting while resting on a eruption. Nuff sais
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolIt doesn't recover MP faster, but what it DOES do is make the system realize faster that you're still. MP regeneration ticks up slowly when you are moving without enmity and in passive mode...but it ticks up much faster when you're still.
Where sitting comes in, is that SOMETIMES (okay, LOTS of times), the system can take several seconds (10-15 sometimes) to realize that you're not just in passive, but also are sitting still. Sitting down makes it realize this immediately and it will jump straight to fast-tick regeneration.
So yes, sitting actually does help.
Party MP bars are displayed so.... yeah... lolIn most groups I'm in sitting is just the casters way of saying "don't count on me right now, I'm recovering mp," without having to text anything.

All it does is make it harder to move towards targets you need to nuke/heal or away from attacks.
Sitting helps. As people said it forces you out of action. If you simply stand yes it will eventually kick in and I think the gradual effect is slower when standing too but that just by my observations, maybe I'm wrong.
