We began the broadcast by premiering the trailer for Patch 7.5 – Trail to the Heavens, then went over our schedule of upcoming events and patch releases.

The Patch 7.5 main scenario will be released in two parts. Part 1 will be released on Tuesday, April 28, soon after the North American Fan Festival; Part 2 is scheduled for early September.

The timing of these updates is intermingled with the Fan Festivals, so you can look forward to both new content and major announcements! Furthermore, there will be patch releases aside from the main scenario patches, so you can look forward to those as well!

    • New Main Scenario Quests

In Patch 7.5, the first half alone will have nearly as much story content as a normal patch! There will be a bit of a wait until Part 2 is released, but there's good reason for it, so be sure to keep up with the story as we prepare further announcements for the European Fan Festival in July!

    • Dawntrail Allied Society Capstone Quests
    • Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures
    • New Custom Deliveries: Tiisol Ja

The Hildibrand quests start off rather peaceful for a grand finale, but won’t stay that way for long! Creating cutscenes for Hildibrand has often leveled up our arsenal of special effects, and this update has a few moments where that really shines through.

    • Duty Support Update
    • PvP Update
    • New Crystalline Conflict Arena: Archeia Harmonias
    • New Dungeon: The Clyteum
    • New Alliance Raid: Windurst: The Third Walk

The new dungeon will be reveal just how advanced the Garlean Empire’s magitek weaponry truly was, so that's something you may want to look out for!

As for the new Crystalline Conflict arena and alliance raid, we went in-game to look at them later in the broadcast.

    • New Trial: Enuo (Normal/Extreme)
    • Shinryu’s Domain (Unreal)

Enuo (Normal) will feel about as difficult as you'd expect, but packed with theatrics that match the narrative.

In Extreme, Enuo's mechanics will be very straightforward in the best way. Rather than an intensively arena-based mechanic, it’ll be more of a head-to-head eight-player battle. The pace of the battle is on the fast side, and may feel a bit tougher than some of the more recent Extreme trials.

Shinryu was a formidable Extreme trial back in its heyday, but above all, the music is fantastic—so we hope you’ll relive the frantic mechanics and sprinting across Shinryu’s back once again.

    • New Ultimate Raid

We hinted at the new Ultimate raid ahead of its reveal at the recent North American Fan Festival. Check out the keynote archive for more details!

    • Phantom Weapons
    • Occult Crescent: North Horn
    • New Limited Job: Beastmaster

At last, our Phantom Weapons can be reforged into their final forms. You can look forward to some solid new designs, thanks to Dawntrail's graphical update expanding our Development team's creative limitations.

For Occult Crescent, North Horn introduces an expansive new area, so we hope you’ll dive in and enjoy the new reaches of the isle to the fullest.

As for beastmaster, we went over the new limited job in more detail later in the broadcast.

    • Ocean Fishing Update: New Route - Thavnair
    • New Cosmic Exploration Star - Auxesia
    • Gold Saucer Update

The previous stars in Cosmic Exploration hinted at the traces of a bygone civilization, and this finale will be closing in on the truth.

A new multiplayer activity will be added to the Gold Saucer sometime during the Patch 7.5x series. We’re not quite ready to share the details yet, so please look forward to further updates!

      (01:03:50)

    • Housing Update

This update will significantly increase the number of furnishings and outdoor furnishings that can be placed. But this means many more housing objects could be on-screen at a time, which could be demanding for certain systems.

To help with the load, we're adding a setting to adjust how many characters show up on your screen when you're inside housing. This might help if you enter a room and your system is struggling to render everything inside.

We also added a backend process to also alleviate the load by capping how many furnishings will be shown on-screen simultaneously to 400. When that cap is reached, the game will begin concealing the furnishings that are furthest away from you and harder to notice, like furnishings on another floor.

In most cases, you probably won't notice this affecting your gameplay, but it's worth keeping in mind if your housing has a ton of furnishings in a small area. Rest assured that this won't affect your placement limits—it only affects how many are visible at a time.

    • Armoire Update
    • Dye System Update

Dyes will be consolidated into three types. The dyes you currently have won't be usable anymore, but they can be exchanged for the new versions at the Calamity Salvager after Patch 7.5 is released.

Check out the timestamp above for a preview of the entry cutscene, mechanics of the first boss, and gear rewards!

We faithfully recreated FFXI's Windurst, paying close attention to the scenery, environment, and countless other fine details. If you've played FFXI before, we're eager to have you experience our replica firsthand, and perhaps even go in with a group of fellow adventurers. Of course, you can fully enjoy the alliance raid without having played FFXI—that said, should Windurst pique your curiosity, we'd be delighted if you give FFXI a try!

Keep an eye on what adversaries you’ll face in the second and third boss encounters—and why, exactly, we'll find ourselves battling Shantotto.

We went in-game to check out the overall atmosphere and unique mechanics of the new arena, Archeia Harmonias. For details on the mechanics, check out the 7.5 Patch Notes!

A lot of testing went into designing the lines-of-sight, points of engagement, and more. Give this library-themed arena a try and let us know what you think!

From here, we went over a number of features that weren't covered in our previous broadcast.
    • Improvements to the Sightseeing Log
These changes will let you know which emote to use at a particular vista, and when the current weather and time conditions don't match the requirements.

    • Outfit Glamour Update
In addition to adding outfit glamour support to dungeon gear from 3.0 and onward, you’ll also be able to withdraw individual pieces from sets of gear that has been stored via outfit glamour.
Check out the archive for an in-game demonstration!

    • More Convenient Crafting
Some actions that were previously restricted while the crafting log was open will now be allowed. These restrictions had been around since early A Realm Reborn, to keep server-side processes airtight and prevent the loss of crafting materials, but we managed to revise them to improve convenience while still maintaining safety.

    • Companion Chocobo Update
To make your chocobo feel even more like a true combat companion, we’ll be adding new animations based on rank, as well as elements such as reacting to player emotes. We’d like to continue updating buddy chocobos going forward.

    • New Color Schemes
We introduced two themes: Clear Pink and Clear Gray. The original UI at launch strongly emphasized functionality and simplicity, but as trends in UI design keep evolving over time, we plan to gradually introduce new color variants and other updates to our UI in general.

    (02:10:16)

We started with a quick recap of Beastmaster-related announcements from the previous Letter LIVE.

Beastmaster's job quests will be a helpful guide to your basic rotation and how to fight alongside your beasts. These quests will become available as you raise your level and learn new actions.

Raising your level will be essential for taming in the wild, since beastmasters will struggle to capture beasts of a higher level than them. In this initial release, you'll be able to capture all tameable beasts by yourself; for example, even beasts that showed up in alliance raids can be unlocked by using rewards from solo content. Try various methods and work your way towards capturing them all!

You can also tame as a team! Capturing is handled separately for each player, so you won't have to worry about someone else taming your target before you do.

The beasts you tame will be recorded in your Master's Bestiary. The lore behind capturing these beasts will be covered in the beastmaster job quests, but basically, the process involves converting the beasts into aetherial form, rather than ensnaring them with physical traps.

Fighting as a beastmaster is not only about the player character—you’ll be teaming up with your tamed beasts to overcome adversaries. Each beast has its own characteristics, such as interactive abilities or actions that inflict stun. There will be a wide variety of beasts to choose from, and your fighting style will shift depending on which beasts are accompanying you.

In the beastmaster-exclusive duty, Crucible of the Unbroken, you’ll be able to raise your monsters, acquire passive items, and strengthen both your companions and yourself as you progress towards the final goal. Analyze your adversaries, choose the beasts with advantageous attack elements, and form a strategy to overcome the challenges that await within! As an additional challenge, we’ll also be implementing a ranking system to compete with other players' high scores.

Crucible of the Unbroken will be introduced through the job quests, where you can learn its basic rules. From there, if you're looking to master the ins and outs of beastmaster, we encourage you to press on and advance even further ahead.

Beastmaster’s job-specific gear can be upgraded through Crucible of the Unbroken. Though the gear's item level will increase, its visual appearance will remain the same until it ultimately gains special visual effects in its final form. Gear upgrades will be one of the long-term progression elements for those aiming for the top of the Crucible of the Unbroken rankings.

Since Crucible of the Unbroken is a brand-new type of activity in FFXIV, we’re hoping to showcase the content closer to its release.

Here we showed how beastmasters call upon their beasts in battle. Check out the timestamp for a preview of the Master's Bestiary and certain beast actions!

The Master's Bestiary will list the beasts you've captured, and you can assign them to your three battlehorns. When combat begins, you'll summon your first beast and have it use an action, which puts that beast on cooldown. While the first beast is on cooldown, you'll swap to your second beast, then your third, fighting in tandem as you rotate between them.

Beastmasters can use the following Beast Actions to command their beasts.
    • Finisher
Your beast unleashes a potent attack then retreats to its battlehorn. In situations where you want to swap out your active beast, it might be good to use Finisher first.

    • Trick
Commands your beast to use an "instinctual skill," which we've explained below. The slide shows a default icon but the actual icon will change based on the active beast.

    • Tempered Release
Commands your beast to execute its unique action!

    • Nature's Gift
Borrow your beast's power to perform an action yourself!

Beastmaster has two job gauges: one for the beastmaster themselves, and another for their beasts. These gauges will fill up as you battle, and once they reach 100 or more, you can spend the entire gauge to unleash weaponskills called "instinctual skills."

When the beastmaster and beast use their instinctual skills back-to-back, it will trigger an "instinctual combo" and deal additional damage. Furthermore, the round UI element shown on the slide has colored icons representing the instinctual skill elements; comboing elements in a clockwise order will yield even more damage. Whether you start the combo with the beastmaster or beast will depend on which gauges are filled and ready to spend.

During the broadcast, we showed off beastmaster's level 50 gear and entered a dungeon to demonstrate how instinctual combos work. This wasn’t shown on the slides, but when you reach level 50, Beastmaster will gain two additional elements that are temporarily available after an instinctual combo. You'll also have ways to instantly fill your gauges, which will be crucial in using the temporary elements before time runs out.

The job quests will go over these fundamentals, including Crucible of the Unbroken. Beastmaster can be leveled up fairly quickly and will be enjoyable without having to invest too much time, so we encourage you to give it a try!

That being said, we'll have plenty of content for beastmasters looking to dive deep and hone their mastery. Crucible of the Unbroken is one such activity; you'll be able to level up your beasts, and earn special currency used for unlocking alternate appearances for certain max level beasts. There will also be other rewards available through the exchange and other methods.

We've been pouring our hearts into beastmaster and its related content, and we hope you're eager to play them!

Check out the timestamp to preview the finalized Phantom Weapons, new mounts, and some of the new gear!
