SE can't balance to save their goddamn life. EX: Launch Picto. Especially because the person who designed picto is lead for the evolved jobs. They will be overtuned to hell and they will be required if you want to complete the tier befoer week 4. But judging by the way you speak you don't care about that and just want to ragebait on the forums.

Picto, TBF, was also lucky in that it's design let it bend FRU over it's knee because the downtime in that fight allowed PCTs to queue up all their burst skills. It was a perfect storm that PCT played against a weakness in FFXIV's slow, cinematic boss design.

It was completely broken in FRU because it could exploit the amount of downtime, but it was still so strong in 7.0 that every other job got potency buffs to try and keep it from breaking the first savage tier without nerfing the job. It was still the strongest caster by a long shot after those buffs, and the boss health wasn't increased enough to compensate.

Are we just trying to forgot how it was completely overtuned during the first tier as well? It wasn't just FRU. PCT was the most broken job in the game by a pretty large margin.

And we can guarantee Ulti fight design isn't changing enough to actually punish jobs that excel in downtime, there has to be some pause between phases even with intermissions. The way they are showing they are "changing" this is by removing gauges all together, which is just a step backwards in design. Having every single job have their entire kit for every single phase in an Ult is going to lower complexity and make every single fight like TOP because they have to put so much more into mechanical complexity over forcing players to learn to resource manage so they can clear a phase with limited resources after having to use them previously.

The PLD preview has me wondering if Evolved tanks will still have the same level of survivability they have now.

Well, they mentioned that they're removing some CDs (ie Bulwark was the example given with PLD) but increasing the potency, or availability, of the CDs that do remain, to compensate for the loss.

So, I'd assume that this means, say, Rampart goes to 30% and is a 60s CD, the 2min 40% CDs become 90s CDs, maybe Sheltron/BW/HOC all get +10%, and an additional +10% in the first 4 sec, etc

They have to have the same suriveability as now, or more, otherwise currently-existing content (mainly Ultimates) become impossible

the new jobs being overtuned predates picto - but it also looks like mr prime was behind nin, mch, sam and rpr as well.

we dont have enough information yet, thats fact. it makes sense for me for the potencies to be same regardless of mode.

tier clearing statics will have reborn moders for sure on week 1, 2, 3 and 4.
and if pf goblins are gonna have tantrums about someone preferring the wrong mode anyone can make their own pf and keep on going.
