Am I the only one who thinks test servers for upcoming content are a good idea? I think test servers should be set up for such content to collect feedback from the playerbase.

Totally agree with you here. 110%.

You aren't the only one, but they aren't good because of spoilers. One thing this game does well is not releasing spoilers in the patch files that can be seen prior to the intended release date, so that everyone experiences it the same way at the same time on patch day.

Depends on the content. If it's high-end raid, people will just use PTS to world first it, so that's kinda awful.

Yes Please. Test servers for the evolved gameplay. As they should have all their actions by 50, no need for content above that, that solve the spoiler problem (gameplay is a non-issue as SE spoil it before launch anyway)

This would be nice, considering most of the early testers (that we see) are people from the media tour it might be a good idea to get more people from different parts of the player base to offer feedback.

I think a kind of an open beta playtest of the Evolved jobs might be interesting enough to make, similar to how GW2 does open beta events when introducing new elite specs. The content stays the same (spoiler-free), but players can create beta characters to test new specializations and provide feedback. Considering the major shift in the FFXIV battle system, this kind of event might be very useful.
P.S.
I'd like to elaborate to people not acquainted with GW2 open beta events. What GW2 does is allow players to create max-level characters with predefined gear and new elite specializations on live servers during the event. Players can do all kinds of PvE/PvP content, but everything they loot can't be traded in any way or put into the account storage. When the open beta period ends, those characters are deleted.

se: "we'll do it live, WE'LL DO IT LIVE"
I don't particularly think it's a good idea to use test servers for upcoming content, it ends up ruining the surprise. I would however like test servers to try out job changes and QoL features. I feel like that's the best use for them for this game; toss us into level cap, give us the current level cap dungeons and a handful of trials (both normal and extreme) so we can try out whether the changes feel good or not.
If spoilers, no thanks![]()
