Is Final Fantasy XI Still A Thing?

I bought Final Fantasy XI way back in 2004 when if first released. I played it for around 2-3 weeks before moving on to other things (I was 14 then.)

Anyways, I've been playing Final Fantasy XIV for a little while, and now I kind of want to play Final Fantasy XI again, for whatever reason. I recently bought the "complete collection" that has all of the expansions for XI thus far, but it's been 9 years (whoa!) since it started and there have been so many expansion packs I'm wondering if it's too late to start playing XI at this point (the storyline has already been played out, everyone is level 50, etc.)

What do you guys think? Is it too late to start such an old game? Do you think Square Enix neglects XI now, or when XIV 2.0 releases? Is it even worth playing?

If any of you are still playing XI, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

It's not too late and SE doesn't neglect it as they're working on an expansion pack for it for next year (may I believe?) Once you hit level 99 you'll be able to blow through a lot of older content so that's the general plus about the higher cap -- Start on Asura server where a lot of new players and returning players go so it's usually always active there. Unlike 2004, you'll level in Alliances called Book Burn parties in Gusgen and the like, which is using the Grounds of Valour system (the test bed for XIV's Leve system essentially.)

It may be difficult for you to play FFXI.

Gaining Sea access could be very hard since hardly anyone may be doing CoP storyline anymore. That's f you even care about the story though.

You can solo CoP.

FFXI right now is super easy to start you log on get 30+ and you can have 2-4 level 99 within 1week or less with good gear and even have sky,cop done pretty quick seeing how everything can be solo when it come to sky,cop stuff and i guessing whitegate also.

Any content not designed with 99s in mind, i.e all content prior to Abyssea era+ can be soloed with few exceptions -- You can't solo Dynamis Lord because of the fight setup alone.

ahh will that sucks lol all that hard work i put into cop/sky lol thank god i quit before they starting raising the cap.
