Hello everybody, I wish you all well & I hope you enjoyed Fanfest2026 as much as I did.

with that being said, let me get to the point as I have a lot to say.

I am extremely happy that they finally decided to remove the 2 minutes buff window from the game as this was one of the major issues for job homogenization..

I personally believe that part of that issue is the idea of Sub Roles that are within the Healer role.. and now unfortunately is going to be added to the tanking role as well.

Dear Square Enix and Team CBU3 , can we please not be Categorized within our roles?

Since 2.0, I truly believe that the day The healer role got damaged is the day they Categorized Healers in 2 sub roles ( Pure Healers - Barrier Healers ) this hurts the role in many ways than I could mention.

A Major issue that I can see is it limits the Fantasy of when a new Healer is made, as they have to make one that falls under those 2 sub roles... instead of approaching the idea of making a new healer based off of an older ff game, or completely coming up with a new concept.

With that healer not only being played differently, but also offers it's own way of support too..

For example:
White Mage : Powerful AOE heals.
Scholar : Powerful Shields.
Astro : Unique Single target buffs.
Sage : High Damage input.
Time Mage : Haste buff < Example.
Geomancer : AoE Dmg Reduction buffs < Example.

and work it from there with new ideas, each idea with its own identity...
instead of keeping healers within these 2 sub roles... and that we all have to abide by the law of " all healers need to dps nonstop ".

healers can benefit the group in many ways other than just dealing damage whenever there is healing downtime, the role itself will be far more fun that way too, if we could support in other ways that differentiate us from one another, not just by gameplay but also by FANTASY.

Now unfortunately I see the same thing is happening with The Tank roles...
this means that the next tank to be added after 8.0 is going to also be another " Main Tank " because currently by the time 8.0 is out, we will have 2 main tanks, and 3 off-tanks.. which bring an entire other set of problems..


so this basically means, whenever they decide to add a healer, it'll fall within the Pure healer or Barrier healer category.. which means 1 Category will be higher in number than the other, exactly like what's happening with Tanks in 8.0

Honestly these sub roles are abysmal and they should be completely removed... Let The Tanks Pick what they want to do in an endgame content given what unique utility the job they play can offer... and remove the shackles of the healers sub roles too.. don't force us into a category that we do not want ):
