I cannot go home. Why can I not go home to Balmung from Dynamis? IS there anything of value to do here at this hour even? Sigh.

Just to make sure you've tried all the obvious options, have you tried travelling back the usual way for cross-DC travelling? It is not the same thing as travelling between worlds inside your home DC.

1. Log off if you're already logged in.
2. Right-click on your character to bring up the subcommand menu, then select whatever the equivalent of "Return to Home World/Datacenter" appears in your case (depending on language)
3. It should ask you for confirmation, you say yes, after a few seconds it'll bring you back to Balmung and you can log back in.

If it doesn't, does it tell you why, at all? Any error messages you can share with us?

We suggest trying again at a different time, or keeping an eye on the FFXIV Server Status to check periodically if the world is no longer congested so you can enter.
